I posted this in another thread, but i had more Qs on it so i thot i’d open up a new thread..
First of all, can anyone tell what metals/materials are used here? The guy quoted me around $400 for it, but considering the shop was in an area where EVERYTHING is overpriced, im guessing it’s just really cheap stuff thats worth a fraction of it.
Also, I know in Pakistan you can get custom designed sona jewelery…but has anyboyd tried getting something artificial in a custom design? I think something “real” would be out of the question (unless it was white gold with cubic zirconia as opposed to platinum and diamond) but does anyone have an idea of it? Also, if it were to be “real” how much would it cost?
Sara, honestly..if you want to get something real made...try to keep it nafees...otherwise it will end up looking fake.......have them use the finest pearls..and zircons...with white gold...
...the price also depends on how wide you want it to be...
gems used on a smaller scale=nafees....
smaller pearls..and not chunky...
chunky will make the necklace look artificial..you want to achieve a more real look..as opposed to the one shown right?
If you want something custom made and have a reliable honest jeweller than the best way to go is shop for cut/polished gems on the net.
You can get a string of pearls ( not glass ) for around $20. I have a few so i know bout this one.
Cut CZs small ones I havent done a search yet but they should be pretty cheap too if you get them from sellers in China or Thai.
Take these with the design to your jeweller and get them put into a set. Ofcourse he is going to charge you for his time and effort.
^ hm thas a good idea...a few years ago my mom would go shopping in the fashion district for beads and stones and she had a few sets made. I think ill try that.....
you can also check stores that sell jewellery making supplies, including pearls/gems. there's a particular strip on queen west that has about 8 stores that do- thats where i get my pearls and semi-precious stones from. i'm positive new york has an equivalent street somewhere.
