Question about Jewelery

I posted this in another thread, but i had more Qs on it so i thot i’d open up a new thread..

First of all, can anyone tell what metals/materials are used here? The guy quoted me around $400 for it, but considering the shop was in an area where EVERYTHING is overpriced, im guessing it’s just really cheap stuff thats worth a fraction of it.

Also, I know in Pakistan you can get custom designed sona jewelery…but has anyboyd tried getting something artificial in a custom design? I think something “real” would be out of the question (unless it was white gold with cubic zirconia as opposed to platinum and diamond) but does anyone have an idea of it? Also, if it were to be “real” how much would it cost?

Here’s the necklace

cubic zicronia and glass pearl beads?

Re: Question about Jewelery

I would say in the low thousand range.

Re: Question about Jewelery

^ its artificial jewellery

Re: Question about Jewelery

Its all Glass, nothing real. The beads and the stones

Should be worth around $30

Re: Question about Jewelery

Seriously??? Dang thats' a huge profit margin then... but hey..they gotta pay rent :@:

Re: Question about Jewelery

So my other Q was....is it possible to get artificial jewelery custom-made? esp in Lahore... or is it just better to go for the real stuff??

I know but she also asked how much would it be if it were real.

Re: Question about Jewelery

^ oh. right :p

Re: Question about Jewelery

Sara, honestly..if you want to get something real made...try to keep it nafees...otherwise it will end up looking fake.......have them use the finest pearls..and zircons...with white gold...
...the price also depends on how wide you want it to be...

Re: Question about Jewelery

Whats nafees?

So im guessing..zircons and white gold would be helluva lot cheaper than platinum and diamondS (even with real pearls)..right? :p

Re: Question about Jewelery

gems used on a smaller scale=nafees....
smaller pearls..and not chunky...
chunky will make the necklace look artificial..you want to achieve a more real look..as opposed to the one shown right?

Re: Question about Jewelery

and yes..platinum will be a LOT more expensive than white gold. :)

Re: Question about Jewelery

If you want something custom made and have a reliable honest jeweller than the best way to go is shop for cut/polished gems on the net.

You can get a string of pearls ( not glass ) for around $20. I have a few so i know bout this one.
Cut CZs small ones I havent done a search yet but they should be pretty cheap too if you get them from sellers in China or Thai.

Take these with the design to your jeweller and get them put into a set. Ofcourse he is going to charge you for his time and effort.

Re: Question about Jewelery

^ hm thas a good idea...a few years ago my mom would go shopping in the fashion district for beads and stones and she had a few sets made. I think ill try that.....

Re: Question about Jewelery

If you are buying from ebay make sure you check sellers history, read the stats on the gems before you make a payment.
Most of them are very reliable.

We have ordered specimens and cut/polished gems a lot (apart from CZ)
And all of them were good, nothing was dodgy or fake.

I'll see if James has pics of cut stones that we got from ebay lying around to post.

Re: Question about Jewelery

you can also check stores that sell jewellery making supplies, including pearls/gems. there's a particular strip on queen west that has about 8 stores that do- thats where i get my pearls and semi-precious stones from. i'm positive new york has an equivalent street somewhere.
