Have you ever read these qistwaar novels (published in monthly or weekly magazines)?
Do you prefer a novel to be read in book form (complete) or you can’t wait and can read your favorite novels in monthly / weekly installments?
Any particular novel (s) that you read in parts when they were published in magazines?
I remember, there used to be a novel ‘Humshakal Humraaz’ in Hamdard Naunehaal, that I used to read every month and when it was published in book form I got it re read it. Other novels were translation of Dumas novel ‘Count of Monte Christo’ and Dickens novel ‘Great Expectations’ published in Hamdard Naunehaal. Never tried with any of the jasoosi or Khwateen digest type novels.
Yes, I did in my teens. I don't like to wait though so it was torture for me. Some of the names that I can remember:
Koi lamha gulaab ho, peer e kamil, sahar ik ista'aara hai... possibly other umera ahmed novels too. I remember the stories somewhat. The names escape my memory.

I read peer e kamil qistwaar and it was hell of a torture. I read amar bail but now and again. jo bhi koi hath lag gya.
umera ahmed ki almost sab stories parhi main nay ...
abhi unka last nowel 'aks' qistwaar parha hy .... thora different tha waisay.
I could be mistaken. When I read it as a full novel after coming to canada, it seemed like I already knew parts of it... Like when she gets married in 2nd half of the novel that was like deja vu for me.

Oh ok Thanks for confirming.
Amar bail was just ok. Too filmi at times.
I haven’t read all her novels. Just a few.

acha likhti hai, but as someone said, 'don't make your talent torture for others', she and her readers / viewers deserve a break after all this hard-work.

yeah. dont call it filmi. thats an insult. Umer jahangir's character was somewhat different from a typical hero.
I loved the whole chemistry with alize.
yes. it was fantasy. but we all have our fantasies. No?
thats what u think? when I was reading it muje bhi thora ajeeb laga. especially after u read peer e kamil.
but now she has taken it as a profession. baki I dont think umera is among those people who would write anything.
she said in preface its a starter for a full course meal "aab e hayat" which should have been out in 2013.
You may not agree but when you write in such quantity, you lost originality as well as quality in your work. Moreover, a writer starts repeating himself / herself, when they write non-stop. Many of Umera Ahmed's readers say this. Peer e Kamil was a good work (though I have some reservations about the controversial topic covered in fiction), but afterwards Umera kept on repeating herself. specially the story telling in flash backs. That was in La-hasil, Meri zaat Zara e be-nishan, the novel on which drama 'Maat' was based, Peer e Kamil... all follow same technique of jumping between present and past and the recent one 'Aks' is a pinnacle of this technique :)

why do you feel that calling a novel from digest 'filmy' an insult? Just asking as most of the content in these Khawateen Digest is filmy and highly fantasied. Thats what make them good content from dramas. Now there is not a big difference between a drama and film. if they could made 25-30 episodes dramas MZZB and Maat from 25 pages novelette, that could have been covered in 3 hours film script as well. No?
