Re: QF Australia vs. Pakistan 20th March 2015 @ Adelaide (3rd QF)
It is Ok if that is what you believe, though to me, sending Misbah early is illogical. We all know that he slow down the run rate and we do not want a batting order that can at most post 230 odd runs. Obviously, Misbah is not the right person to accelerate the score and if batsmen like Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Umar Akmal and Shoaib Maqsood do not bat then Pakistan would lose out in accelerated inning. That means, Pakistan would like them to play and not under pressure too. That means, they should come earlier than someone who may slow the inning.
As for Misbah, his usefulness (if that is usefulness) is to stabilize the inning from collapsing, and he is not expected to make fast runs. His average is good, but his SR is modest even when he has settled down, and that is the reason he has no century. That means, Misbah coming early would only limit Pakistani total and coming late wont harm Pakistan as even then he would play slow and would try to stabilize the inning (wasting many balls).
Waisay, bahas ke koyie faidah nahi hay. Misbah would come to bat at whatever order he would think fit and it does not matter what we think. Misbah and Younis did what they want in earlier matches too, when selecting team and when deciding who to play …
For instance, calling Nasir Jamshed all the way from Pakistan to open for Pakistan and then asking Younis Khan to open for Pakistan then continuously make ‘out of form and unfit’ Nasir Jamshed to open. Both decision were great Misbah Captain-ship, and producing ODI world record of ‘1 for 4’, that a person should learn to appreciate.
