When someone looks at the score few years down the lane it will seem like it was a easy match for Aus and they won a low total with 6 wickets to spare.
But this is one of those cases where stats dont show the real pic. Aus had to fight hard to win this and almost till the end they could have lost.
Kudos to Wahab and few others for showing the spirit.
Though i hoped you guys could win it for us but its okay, you tried and tried hard.

If only our batting was even 80% as good as India’s we would regularly beat top sides such as Aus, India and SA because of the bowling firepower…and despite the fielding and catching!!

Pakistan lost first wicket for 20 runs in 5th over, second wicket for 24 runs in 6th over.
Australia lost first wicket for 15 runs in 3rd over, second wicket for 49 runs in 9th over and third wicket for 59 in 11th over. So Australian situation at that point was worse than Pakistan … Plus
Australia was chasing 214 runs to win, so they did not needed to score fast … they only needed to score around 4 runs per over that they could have done easily even in later overs.
But … Pakistan response was:
Tuk Tuk Misbah made 34 runs @ SR 58
Haris Sohail made 42 runs @ SR 72
In comparison:
Smith made 65 runs @ SR 94
Watson made 64 runs @ SR 97
and
Maxwell made 44 runs @ SR 152
and Australia made required score within 34 overs.
This is the difference between Pakistani team full of incompetent batsmen and other tams with good batsmen.
Most world top 5 batsmen have average ‘40 plus’ and SR ‘80 plus’.
But Pakistan top 5 batsmen have average ‘35 or less’ and SR ‘around 70’. Result is that, Pakistan has potential of scoring around 230 in 50 overs and find difficulty in chasing even 220 runs … when other teams are regularly posting 300 runs and chasing 300 runs.
Worse is that, it is not because Pakistan could not produce or do not have world quality batsmen, but it is because of likes, dislikes, nepotism and parchi that those who get in team are below standard batsmen.
