Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

I’ve seen people in rural Sindh putting grain (rice, daal) on graves of the relatives for birds to eat and pray for the dead one.

Is this or similar things also common in other cultures?

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

i've seen in Hindu and Parsi cultures...very few Muslims from illiterate rural areas still do it!

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

But Hindu and Parsi’s don’t have qabren? :konfused:

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

i meant shamshaan ghaat jahaN chitaa jalaate haiN..vaise, i’ve seen, in my village, a few poor Hindus [achhoots] burying their dead…it’s allowed for some…i dunno who they are exactly!
**
btw, Parsees do NOT bury either…they leave dead body’s on a tower for vultures and birds to eat…in Bombay, we have a tower called ‘tower of silence’ where Parsees leave their dead for vultures and birds to eat. sometimes, a blob of human flesh may fall on pedestrians in nearby areas…it’s extremely rare but it has happened. **

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

khe khe. kkf bhai jaldi main likh behtay.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

I think Hindu bury their children and unmarried girls.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

Omg thts scary

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

NOT necessarily...i've seen unmarried girls body taken to shamshaan ghaat on an open cot...they decorate the body like dulhan and an orchestra comes along to the shamshaan ghaaT...it's like getting them married so they become 'complete'...or whatever!

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

Yes. I also heard that.. They have to complete a cycle related to ghar girhasti for getting mukti

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

Its also common among Kalash People of Pakistan. They also put dead bodies in graveyards for vultures and someone told me that after vultures enjoyed flesh, someone come and make pieces of bones making that easy for vultures to have that too. :hayaa:

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

oh wow! that’s interesting…so many nations have so many different ways of disposing off dead bodies…in Vietnam, i believe, they tuck the body in the cravices of mountains and they come to see their loved ones on occasions.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

vultures part is scary.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

why? they clean up the mess really nicely...btw, did you know that vultures have almost disappeared from India and as a result carcasses are eaten by other animals...there was a mysterious disease among kids in Indian villages and they traced the source of that bacteria to the carcasses which were eaten by stray dogs and in turn those dogs bit kids of the villages.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

:bummer: yeh ajeeb hy.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

magar Ghareeb nahiiN…Parsees are a rich people in Mumbai

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

Inki richness kisi kaam ki nahi :naraz:
reality is that, They are very poor people.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

That is just your prejudice. I don’t understand why being eaten by vultures is any worse than being eaten by worms.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

I think people scare from things they watch as compared to the things which happens under earth beyond their observation.

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

Exactly

Re: Qabren, Parinde aur chawal

Poor in the sense?
