Actually thats what my impression was too (bold part). girls usually use Kaur when they are single and once they get married they adopt a surname. Kaur is punjabified form of Kuwari/kumari which means a single girl (me thinks) , actually it also means princess.

You can find plenty of married Kaurs as well. My reason was different cause my hubby isn’t singh(Sikh). Kaur is punjabized form of Kunwar, Sikhs even have unisexual name, main reason of having uni-sexual name was to eliminate difference between girl and boy that was/is prevalent in Punjab:). so possibility of finding Harpreet Kaur and Harpreet Singh is equally likely:)

In Pakistan, Rafi Peer Theatre started Putli Tamasha (puppet Shows) and then came uncle Sargam's Kaliyan, which made the history.

I was referring to the real one in its raw form with less resources. Sesame street and other puppet shows are inspiration of the real Putli Tamasha. In subcontinent, where in many parts men used to play role of women due to Purdah, etc Putli Tamasha with different characters was a suitable medium to convey a message.
