I’m ordering “Taboo” as soon as i can get some money in my account…iv just spend over £20 buying fiction over the weekend
Im going to continue reading Temina’s book as when i speak about it in front of my dad (who was raised in pakistan) he doesnt know who Mustafa Khar is..im more knowledgeable about my dad’s country’s political history…even if it is knowing the names of Khar’s 6 wifes
If you want something in depth MM try a journey into disillusionment...it's a very heavy book though but it's the writers journey through pakistani politics...
On a completely different note, what do u think of the book so far. I read it over 10 years ago and found it quite insightful, but more of a critique on Mustapha Khar. Also, with a sister like her’s, who needs enemies.
i gave up half way through the last chapter…i cant for the life of me understand why she did what she did and why those around her did what they did…
one example i could not get over…her husband sleeping with her 13 year old sister… this was all a bit beyond me.
I had a bit of a conflict with myself regarding the truth element to her life story, im too much of a cynic to feel any empathy for the author… but who knows?
I have read My Feudal Lord and the book that came after that (can't recall the name)., both by Tahmina.
Even though both books say the author name is Tahmina Khar, there is a remarkable difference between the two as far as the writing style is concerned..
My Feudal Lord is writted in a very fluent english. There are hardly any jerks, and no where it is felt that the author is haveing a hard time in saying what she wants to say. It seems like the books has been written by a professional writer.
The second books by Tahmina is very painful to read. I could not read beyond a few pages due to bad english. The author did not know how to put plainly what she wanted.
i have read My Feudal Lord. at the beginning she explained her house and other stuff in small detail. how can she remember so well all the stuff from her childhood. like furniture, curtains etc before when she was young
