Re: Punjabi language in Pakistan

This is jahalat in itself. people like Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Muneer Niazi did poetry in Punjabi. Does this make them Jahil?

I really admire Iqbal, but if someone criticise him for not writing something in Punjabi or something about Punajb (though he even wrote poems for Qartaba Majid in Spain and refer Samarqand, Bukhara, Kashghar in his poetry), I don’t like arguing in support of Iqbal.

Re: Punjabi language in Pakistan

The Sikhs on the other hand whether in india or in the west , take pride in preserving their language and culture. Their kids learn to speak punjabi before any other language. The dun feel ashamed of their poonjabiness.

but there are few jaahil out there who call themselves educated

Re: Punjabi language in Pakistan

I personally believe that reflecting accent of your mother tongue is not a weakness but shows your roots and identity. One can try to escape from roots, but finally you have to return back to it one day. There is no escape.

Re: Punjabi language in Pakistan

But they are minority. I saw Sindhi people living in Karachi and their children getting education in Missionary schools having conversation in Sindhi, though the accent is affected a little.

My uncle moved to Uk when he was a teen ager, now his son is 30, their Sindhi and Sindhi accent is so pure.

Re: Punjabi language in Pakistan

You are absolutely right Muqa...
jo log apny watan aur mitti k nahi ho saky un sy aur kisi cheez ki koi umeed nahi rakhni chahiye.... insaan ko apni auqaat nahi bhoolni chahiye

Re: Punjabi language in Pakistan

But they try to speak?

Here is the difference, living outside Pakistan for so long does justify this, but trying to avoid speaking the language while living in Pakistan (around people who know the language) is in itself a shameful act

Try to speak what? Sindhi?

Yes they speak only Sindhi at home, that's why I said their Sindhi and Sindhi accent is very clear like us.
