Punjabi language and new generation

Re: Punjabi language and new generation

I don’t think that calling someone paindu makes any difference. Besides one should be proud o your place of origin and not ashamed of it.

Re: Punjabi language and new generation

Don't get me started on punjabis who feel ashamed of speaking punjabi and think it's all posh if you don't know any punjabi.

Such a jahilana mentality.

There is a small change in this behavior though. Ten years ago people would openly express their hatreddissaproval for the 'paindu' punjabi language and proudly admit that they don't like it.
Now they have the same mentality, but they mostly express it amongst their own 'kind', and won't trompet it around because they know it's douchebaggery.

Re: Punjabi language and new generation

Plz share a few stories - thru memes if possible :D

Re: Punjabi language and new generation

Haha, memes kissay wailey time banawa'n gi :O

Once at this party, I met this nice girl and we started chatting. And my kid asked me something in urdu and I replied back to her in urdu. And that girl goes: 'Oh you speak urdu to her. How nice. It's so better to speak urdu to kids. Is more neat and decent than punjabi'

I was like: oh no you didn't beech

Re: Punjabi language and new generation

And once at someone's house we were talking with some girls. And one of them (who has been speaking punjabi her entire life) acted as if she doesn't know how to. Her fake urdu accent still hurt my ears. Every time I would speak punjabi to my mother she would act as if she got a 'dora' and wouldn't respond to it.
And then of the girls who doesn't know how to speak punjabi says: I wish I knew how to speak punjabi as well, sounds so cool.
And then the douche girl died. Because she tried so hard to fit in and thought everyone would find her awesome with her fakepuna.

Re: Punjabi language and new generation

LMAO! beech is ur new word na

Yah I have seen such fakepuna too

Re: Punjabi language and new generation

One thing I learned is that when you change a swear word slightly and pronounce it (slightly) differently, people find it less or not offensive at all.
I used to call my sister 'harhamiday' or 'harhamish' and she would complain to parents. And they would tell her off, because that is not a real existing word.
