How abduction says they have been converted too. Can’t they be abducted by people of same belief?
If we consider it a truth, where are these converted girls are kept after conversion? Do they get married to Muslims or there have been set-up certain shelter homes to keep these newly converted Muslim girls?

I wouldnt know since this is a report by Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.

For better business opportunities. I've myself seen Hindu people leaving Pakistan for better opportunities to India and western countries. Sindhi Hindus were well off compared to Sindhi Muslims and they could afford to migrate and settle in other countries.
Divided families has also been reason for migration from time to time. My childhood memories remind me migration of Hindus and the scenes where they cried like anything while separating from their Muslim friends. We had cows in our home and Hindu women came to our home for aarti.

We should critically analyse any such reports and follow-up for subsequent matters, if we are really concerned about a issue. :)

That may be an exception, but not the general trend
Hindus from Pakistan flee to India, citing religious persecution - The Washington Post
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
I was hoping you would know the answer, but anyways those kidnapped Hindu girls are forced to convert to Islam and marry Muslims. You should be able to google various news report corroborating that. Here’s one…
According to police records, each month, an average of 25 girls meet Rinkle’s fate in Sindh alone, home to 90 per cent of the Hindus living in Pakistan. Young Hindu girls are ‘marked’, abducted, raped, and forcibly converted. Discrimination, extortion threats, killings and religious persecution are driving the remaining Hindus out of Pakistan. They had chosen to stay back after Partition; six decades later, they are no longer welcome.
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
Its been 65 years. Was Washington Times was sleeping over this period for Hindu persecution in Pakistan?
Its a temporary phase. Sindh is still land of Sufis and people living here believe on co-existence. There are saints who are revered by both Muslims and Hindus.
The problems being faced by Hindus (abduction, ransom, etc) are also being faced by Muslim population, that does not mean that Hindus are being targeted for conversion. Knowing Sindhi’s philosophy they damn care about conversion. If there is a persecution, its not religious, its economical.
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
By this ratio, we should have seen a Hindu girl in almost every Muslim family, which is not the case. As I mentioned, my hometown contain a sizeable population of Hindus, we didn’t see / herad a single case of conversion in our area.

*Yaar, *the fact that Washington Post reported it in 2012 does not make the issue less real.
And I don't see the logic behind "same problem being faced by Muslim population". Are young Muslim girls being 'marked', abducted, raped, and forcibly converted ? Are Muslims facing discrimination and religious persecution ?
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
What ever else the Hindus of Pakistan do - migrate to India or stay back, one thing I cant understand in the kidnapping of girls followed by their conversion and a hasty marriage. I recently read about a 14 year old girl who was kidnapped, converted and married. What is the minimum age of marriage for girls ? Why are the minor girls not released back to the care of their parents ? What gives the right for a minor girl to convert without her parents’ permission ? Why are minor boys not converting like this ? Why this problem with girls only ? We can say that some thing is really wrong with the picture.

Not sure what your point is. Are you disputing this news report ?

Muqawwee, I really respect your ideas and enjoy your posts which is why I am shocked and sad that you are being so flippant in the case of the forceful conversion of Hindu girls many of whom are minors :(
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
Hindus are soft targets in Pakistan. Its easy to kidnap and rape a Hindu girl, then forcibly convert her and force a “nikaah” on her to legitimize the rape. That way one can kill two birds with the same stone.

Do you know what Karo Kari is? These alleged conversions are being reported from upper Sindh, an area infamous for women exploitation in the name of karo Kari, Vani, etc. These exploitations are without discrimination of faith.
If you come down to northern Sindh, you find places like 'Sadh Belo' a Hindu temple on an island equally revered by Muslims and Hindus. If you come downwards to Sehwan, there you find Qalandar Shahbaz who is Jhule laal of Sindhi Hindu and you might have heard Sindhi community remembering him in their daily conversation.
My point is a few cases does not say that Sindhi society is pro-conversion.

My views are based on my observation. When I see condemnation of whole tolerant Sindhi society for few cases on generalisation basis, I have to raise questions and tell the facts, which are my first hand information.
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction

Yes I don't agree to the image especially the last line that Hindus are not welcomed in Pakistan after 6 decades. Hindus are still heads of many organization, medical colleges, media personalities, politicians. Rana Bhagwan Das was the ex-Chief justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan(now Chairman Federal Service Commission of Pakistan). I personally know many Hindu Commissioners serving in differnt government departments. My cousin is doing her MBBS from a medical college in northern Sindh. Many of her class-fellows are Hindu girls, who attend their classes without any fear. What does this say about our society? Had we been so intolerant, no Hindu left his daughters in colleges in remote areas from their home.
I don't deny that there are some cases, but generalization of a society to this level (Hindus are not welcomed in their homeland) is not digestible for me.
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
Its a simple question - 22% Hindu population in 1951 dropped to 1.7% today. This is only Pakistan, not Bangladesh.
Can you explain why ? Nothing that you have posted so far explains this drop.
If you had cared to read my previous posts you wouldn't have been asking the same question over and over again, Bangladesh was a part of Pakistan in 1951 and it had more population than the Pakistan we have now. The Hindus in Bangladesh were around 23% which were naturally included as a part of the Pakistan census in 1951, if you remove those Hindus the population in the rest of the country is still where it was in 1951. Read the link of the book by professor Ian talbot that I have posted in post 36.
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
Although at some levels there would be discrimination against the minorities, which cannot be condoned but there is no big scale genocide being committed either.

the Pakistan in 1951 included Bangladesh as well, and the hindu figure you are quoting includes the hindus in current Pakistan and Bangladesh.
