Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
These are towns and besides these Hindu population also lives in major cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Badeen. I think Tharparkar (one of the biggest districts in Sindh) is still Hindu majority area, where you don't see any migration.
So what explains the Hindu population coming down from 22% in 1951 to 1.7% today ?
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
Partition changed all the demography. There were Muslim majority districts in Indian Punjab, but now you know the % of Muslims in Indian Punjab.
As per 1998 census Hindu still forms almost 9% of the Sindh's total population.
The 22% number is from 1951, so 4 years after partition. I would expect that the impact of partition is included in that number. What explains that 22% going down to 1.7% at a national level ?

1965 & 1971 Wars also followed by migration. What do you think that migration stopped in 1947. It did continued decades after partition.

Ok, lets take that point piece by piece. How many Hindus migrated from Pak to India after 1965/1971 ? And are you saying that Hindus migrated from West Pak to East Pak in 1971 when it became Bangladesh ?

No I didn't say that Hindu migrated from West Pakistan to East Pakistan in 1971.
In Sindh Border areas like Tharparkar and Umer kot were majority Hindu areas then. After 1965, a huge population migrated to India, leaving Hindu population of Tharparkar at 34% as per 1998 Census.
I myself brought-up in a town with a good % age of Hindu population. We still share a common wall with a Hindu family. People also migrated from Sindh to India during 1980-1990 when there was no situation like today.
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
According to 1941 census muslims formed 53.1 % of combined Punjab, and now considering the present populations they are hovering around 57-58 % which can be explained by the following table. While discussing the topic on hand that there are no hindus in Pakistani Punjab the topic is incomplete to see the other side of the story as well.

Hence proved Muslims are less concerned about family planing :D
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
Another thing is that if we take the figures that I gave in the previous post from 1951 census, the population on Pakistani side was around 52 % which you can consider the result of partition and shows the extent of migration across Punjab. As far as Bangladesh is concerned, are we responsible to account for the Hindus living there even after 40 years of partition? :halo:

And how much of this demographic shift is due to conversions ?
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
yeh lo massla hi hal ho gaya…According to 1951 census, 3% of West Pakistan’s population was non muslims. We are not accountable for the hindus who were once part of East Pakistan.
As many as 20 to 25 girls from the Hindu community are abducted every month and converted forcibly, said Amarnath Motumal, an advocate and council member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
Re: Punjabi Hindus: forlorn and on the path to extinction
In 1951, Hindus constituted 22 percent of the Pakistani population.[2][3]
By 1998 the proportion of Hindus was down to around 1.7 percent.[4] This huge drop is due to the creation of*Bangladesh in 1971, where the bulk of pre-1971 Pakistani Hindus resided and emigration of Hindus from Pakistan.
