Let's hope, we can avoid bloodshed and further separation of Pakistan, but if punjabi establishment force us into a corner, they will be responsible for the outcome.

Yeah, that's what i was talking about. I have lots of name for these sort of people but i believe in unity amongst all Pakistanis otherwise i can say a lot of things about these people and their background.

Pakistan is a 150 million (half the popultion of US, and double the population of France), so behave like one.
4,000 cusecs may sound a lot but the article fails to show the time period for which this "extra" water will be given to Punjab. Also Punjab has a quota of 56 Million Acre Foot vs. 49 million MAF for Sindh. Even if the news is true, the article fails to explain what percentage of 56 MAF will be a gain vs. any portion lost out of 49 MAF of Sindh's quota.
Without the true picture, this article seems to be a flame bait for everyone and I see bunch of you have taken that bait like a $tupid fish.

ANy of you read that paragraph? It's a bit silly having a plan which says X amounts of water will come. In lay men terms:
x = indus, y = punjab and z= sindh
x = y + z
x + 4 = (y + z) + 4
assuming you have a surplus of 4 in the above eample do you let it run into the sea or maybe would be better of using it?
their is a temr in the military known as 'dont plan a plan' meanding you cant predict what is going to happen. So leave maximum room for manouver.

First of all, the water issue is not just related to this incident. I have previously posted articles on the water dispute.
So mysterious_guy, when did I say that others did not have right to complain about MQM? In fact, I hope the villages situation in Karachi can be resolved. If I was a hypocrite, I would not have even bothered mentioning that.
And on one hand you liken me to Soomro and then also agree with him on MQM being terrorists by calling Altaf a snake. Maybe Altaf is the worst person in the world as you claim, that still doesn’t take away from the fact that injustice is being done to other provinces by Punjab. This article is only a small snippet from the long-standing inequality between provinces since Pakistan's inception. You can't hide from reality, since it has a habit of coming back to bite one's behind like in 1971.
Just pick up Dawn or Jang on any given day and you will read of leaders from other provinces asking for their rights in the federation. If the rulers choose to ignore this, the consequences will be of their own doing. Pakistan can only be saved if both the rulers and people are sincere in their efforts to bring democracy, equality, popular representation and shun feudalism, militarism, and extremism. Anything else, and Pakistan, being an ideological state, will turn into a failed state. If Pakistan cannot achieve the goals it was created for after more then 60 years, the future will be very bleak for the state.

a. call the person a traitor or question their patriotism if they disagree with you.
b. allign them with groups of ill repute if they disagree with you.

Risc mian, the problem is not just sindhi vs. punjabi or some numbers that we "compensate" in future so take water out now?
The problem is that now we almost have no downstream water through kotri barrage and the way we have right now (the best way until something else is discovered) that if you take water out now, it is not a zero-sum game as sort of a reverse osmosis takes place only that the salt water that comes in from the sea permanently clogs the lands and has destroyed acres of agricultural land in Sindh.
There is lots of talk about solving this problem by mush and bureacracy but feds have yet to devise a way to not only stop this process of salinization as hoped but also try to reclaim the "semthor" land as it is called.
Now if anyone has arguments against this issue then come feel free to discuss.

I feel for you guys but their is a water shortage. My family are farmers themselves and the crops basically dont mount to nothing, all profits go into paying for fertiliser, fuel etc... uncle just decided to stop working and setup a business of some sort. Water shortage is everywhere, unfortunatly you cant control the weather.
One way would be to stop waste - make the best of what we have and that oncludes dams, better distrubution channels.

There is no other way right now to stop the salinization of lands except to have water downstream kotri to desalinize the land!
As for irrigation, there was this australian or european method of "drip irrigation" where you put water into the roots of the plants to basically avoid flooding the whole field with water and thus wasting it.
Why wasn't it implemented is beyond me?!
There is also the project of course lining of canals but that is more expensive than just drip irrigation which is a cheaper way to save water.

drip irrigation is a very good way of conserving water, but NOT cheap. To be effective on a large scale it requires the planting of piping, drippers, sensors and a computer of some sort to control the amount of water being deployed. Also saves expensive fertiliser by giving it precisly where needed in a controlled amount. Can be operated by labour on a small basis but on a medium/large scale needs electronics. I dont think this has become commericialy vilable option yet.

Well, what i got from some of this thread regardless of the authenticity of the initial post sadly is..... that Some panjaabis feel its their right to exploit anyone just beacause they have majority in the army and supposedly defending pakistan. ( We all know what is the criteria for anyone to get into Army or defence sector)

Urdu Speaking who accuse others of "exploitation" for sure live in glass houses. Punjab may have taken a few cusecs of water. However Sindhis have lost their prime real state to the Urdu Speaking group. Is it an unconscious effort to hide ones own crimes?

You know a lot of this stuff you write is complete BS. The head of the army, president and prime minister are Muhajirs are they not? It is a very well known fact in the army that your uncle Mushy is appointing a wave of Muhajirs as Corps Commanders. For once can you people take a bit of balanced view rather than Punjabi, Punjabi, Punjabi. Yes there are some Punjabis who are part of the problem (esp feudals and army men). But the issue is a lot bigger than that and I'm sick of people always passing off blame.
I can already here your defense, Mushy is a muhajir but a sell out.
Answer: Get over it. If he's a sell out, why does he appoint muhajirs to almost every major position. Even OGDC is led by a muhajir former officer. So understand that everyone is part of the problem and stop pointing your finger at one group.

Pakistanis have to LEARN to treat each other with respect. Also, Pakisatnis need to LEARN to listen and find solutions to grievances of the minorities in Pakistan. If some group dissents, they are immediately:
a. labelled as traitors or their patriotism is questioned.
b. alligned with groups of ill-repute to score quickie debating points.
The day Pakistanis treat each other with dignity and respect, learn to listen and do the right thing, thier fortunes will change.

Anyway, Muhaajirs will always be thankful to Sindhis and to anyone who respected Pakistan as a whole and not just a land to rule with force or 'numbers'.
