Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

zikar hai kayi saal ka-telefilm (rahat kazmi, atiqa odhoo, ali kazmi and directed by sahira kazmi) was very good too. sweet and nice. haha ali was sooo sookha hua in his teenage.

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

I think Mujahid Hussain was the music composer for most of Ayub Khawar's dramas. and koi khwab hai...might be composed by him. I recently read Nashaib downloaded online, but the drama had its own impact.

One more thing , when Bushra invited Samina Ahmed, they shown a scene from Nashaib with the haunting background of 'Koi khwab hai' where Saba was asking Samina ' Main Jadu seekhna chahti hoon'. They also shown some clips from Samina Ahmed's work including ' Basoode ki maryam' written by Asad Muhammad Khan. I have read Basode ki Maryam and listened that in Zia Mohiudin's voice, but that clip appealed me a lot. wanted to see the complete drama, but not available any where.

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

That was a wonderful drama aired on the occasion of PTV’s 30th Anniversary. The melodious voice of Nayyara created majic with ‘wo jo hum main tum main qarar tha’. Dr Anwar Sajjad written the play very nicely and Sahira Kazmi’s usual wonderful direction made this drama memorable. By the way, Dr Anwar Sajjad also written some good dramas for PTV including ‘Abhi waqt hai -directed by Ayub Khawar’, Fard e Jurm *ing: Zaib Sajjad (Anwar Sajjad’s wife) and Firdos Jamal. Zaib Sajjad will be seen in Shoiab Mansoor’s ‘Bol’ after a very long time.

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

‘Amar Bail’ written by Bano Qudsia and directed by Ayub Khawar was also a wonderful play. Abid Ali and Resham did fantastic job. Here is the link:

In background they played the same music which was used in ‘Nasheb’ including alaap of ‘koi khwab hai’

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

I’m looking for this play…haven’t been able to find it online

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

Sahira Kazmi made that mannequin ateeqa odhu ACT... that's what brilliant directos can do... that role immortalized her.

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

In fact one of the last great PTV dramas i remember was "Tawaan" by Dr. Enver Sajjad which beautifully depicted the lives of average middle class Pakistanis. This was before the whole glamour business ruined our dramas necessitating foreign locales and the casting of clueless models in lead roles.

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

Lovely drama, superb execution. this music was also extensively used in ‘Suraj ke sath sath’ another classic drama : written by Mustansar Hussain Tarar and directed by none other than Rashid Daar.

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

indeed yes.

sooraj ke saath is available to watch

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

Channel STN/NTM also produced some FANTASTIC telefilms like series of mystery theatre, yasir akhter musical telefilms eg zeher, mehreen jabbar's putli ghar, mehreen jabbar's kahaniyan, haqeeqat a telefilm that starred naila jaffery as the evil step mother who kills the step daughter.

There was another ptv single drama called "qissa saat raaton ka" (was released in late 90s) starred sadia imam, shahood alvi, zeenat yasmin, nabeel, and rosheen raja....where shahood goes to live in this purani haveli as a challenge set by his mangeter and friends to proove that he is a coward and he shows them that he isnot and that he can live in a spooky house. there he encounters/sees the story of nabeel and sadia where sadia is a bad wife and nabeel leaves her mom coz of her and later on he regrets it but dies in an accident while going back to apologies to his mom. it was one spooky drama..very well directed and executed.

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

I’ve recently watched it on DVD. A must watch drama. MUstansar Hussain Tarar converted this drama into novel called ‘Des hue Pardes’ which was very much appreciated even in India by famous writer ‘Qurat ul ain Haider’. She remarked this novel depicts the actual picture of young generation of rural Punjab.

I actually wanted to watch an other serial of Mustansar-Rashid team ‘Hasaron Raste’ casting: Firdos Jamal, Rubina Ashraf (her first and only serial from Lahore), Irfan Khoosat (with his famous kachhoo kumi dialogue), Abid Ali (in award winning performance), Zaib Sajjad. Here is the link for a clip from that classic drama:

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

I remember that. Nabeel crying: 'Zaalimo main to mafi mangne ja raha tha' wonderful play: written by Zakia Akbar and directed by: Iqbal Ansari. It was part of PTV drama festival.

Other plays included in Festival I remember were: Ek thi Mehroo, written by Agha Rafique directed by: Sultana Siddiqui *ing: Sania Saeed, Ejaz Aslam. The play got first prize

Lahore TV Catwalk directed by Ayub Khawar was also part of that festival

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

ya it started from “main her maah ayaz se mulaqaat ke liye lahore jaata rehta hoon” so this confused me and i was like peechay ka kahan hai.

fair enough. thanks again

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

haan yehi line thi nabeel ki "zalimon main tou maafi mangne ja raha tha"

ek thi mehroo was good too...had yasir nawaz as the male lead.

Re: PTV Plays since 27 Nov-1964

Yes. Yasir Nawaz was thr, but Sania was finally married to Ejaz Aslam after murder of Yasir.

Do you remember drama ‘dil dil da mamla hai’ written by: Zakia Akbar directed by: Sultana Siddiqui *ing: Adnan Siddiqui, Yasir Nawaz, Badar Khalil picturised at Chowkundi graveyard. here is the link:
