Elections must be held by Jan 2013 (at the latest)
Actually (from what I understand), Gillani (and PPP government officially) has to get out of power by Nov 2012 at latest (could be much earlier) and Pakistan to get interim government who will take Pakistan into election. This interim government is supposed to be neutral whose post holders should be acceptable to all parties.
Why just pick on IK? One could argue that every party incl. PPP and PML-N has a love-hate relationship with MQM
Please don't use PPP/PML's actions here. Isn't it due to their wrong actions that Imran is getting support from everyone?
Imran either was wrong earlier when he was calling MQM a mafia and bhatta-khor terrorists, or he is wrong now when he is willing to make alliance with the very same people.
I don't want to steal this moment from you. Please do enjoy, but also please do not forget to criticize your leaders when they go wrong.

Not saying it is unimportant but the Taliban issue is no longer our biggest problem (Besides there have been no recent attacks by TTP)
To the common man TTP is the least of his worries. He is more worried about rising food and energy (gas, electricity) prices, how to feed his kids etc.
Corruption and mismanagement at every level is our biggest problem right now
[/quote]
Alhamdolillah and no thanks to Imran. Taliban is of no worries only because of Pak army and PPP government's consistent and effective actions against them. Also don't forget the controversial drone attacks which eliminated many of Pakistan's worst enemies. If we had gone along with Imran's policies then we would not be talking about corruption and mismanagement but about internal security and suicide bombings. He was the one wanting to give them more room, appeasing them, stopping ALL military actions against them, and hardly ever condemning them.
But in any case, I am happy that Taliban issue is no more. And again ... no thanks to Imran.
Now as far as inflation/corruption/etc. goes. No one in the world can disagree to eliminate them. Even Taliban were against it. So yes, all my support is for any action that will bring relief for people. Let's see how it goes. I hope it does not turn into the socialist-like policies of Shahbaz Sharif.
At this moment I can not comment because PTI currently doesn't know itself what it wants to do.
Where are two big wickets with one ball
They denied
They are not from .......
Pasha Saheb, maan bhie jao. Imran is sending bouncers and Yorkers that PPP and PMLN are finding difficulty to handle and thus losing wickets fast. That is different matter that instead of playing his own wickets, Imran is picking up fallen wickets of PPP, PMLN, PMLQ and others to play his turn.
Anyhow, whatever Imran is going to dish out to people, it would be same rotten players with different wrappings, but then there is also chance that amongst those rotten players there might be few good ones too. Only time would tell.

Well bhatta khori is an ever-present reality of MQM politics. Is n't it? so nothing has changed there. As I said else-where, in politics aap ko sab ko apney saath ley kar chalna hota hai ... an intelligent leader should be able to do that without having to compromise on core principles
As for a decline in TTP attacks it is a combination of many things - military action, removal of US contractors by the army and lastly ongoing backdoor talks between the military/government officials and TTP

But Imran's allegations were a lot more than just bhatta. He was calling MQM a terrorist mafia and went to Britain to prove it. He can talk to other political parties but not to people he once considered terrorist mafia.
About the reasons you cited for Taliban weakening, why don't you cite some references? Let's start with what Imran think is the reason why Taliban have weakened. So any reference?
PPP and PMLN conducted physical operations against the party, and now PPP and MQM are in government together...
This is the world of politics, the past statements of Imran aside I personally think that he shouldnt do anything divisive if he wants to lead the whole nation. Even in the next election there will be alliances and that will be good for reducing the misunderstandings of different political parties towards each other. I dont think most of us want any divisiveness now, we have already lost a whole generation due to this kind of negative politics.
I would go one step further and say that CIA created TTP (and CIA contractors are/were aiding and abetting TTP) and this is not some blind conspiracy theory. Recent events - the removal of CIA contractors by the army and subsequent sharp decline in TTP-related attacks on our own people - support that view.
Both in that thread AND in this, the only reference you could up with was a report by ANI, which is owned by Prem Prakash and has head quarters in New Delhi. Besides, this is based on The Nation’s report.
Do you have anymore reference?
Or may be we should continue in that thread you just posted. Right?
People like Liaqut Jatoi and Arbab Ghulam Rahim are cruel and corrupt.
If IK let’s them join, it would say a lot about his future plans.
Who will join PTI in Sindh?
With the PTI’s momentous rally at the Quaid’s mausoleum in the city on Sunday, Sindh’s political landscape is likely to undergo significant changes within the next 15 days, as political loyalties are going to alter at an alarming rate.
Some influential political leaders of the province are likely to join the fast-growing Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf in the next few weeks. Liaquat Jatoi from Dadu may join the party by January 15 while Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s (PML-Q) Arbab Ghulam Rahim would jump on the PTI bandwagon during Imran Khan’s rally in Thar in January, sources told The News.
The sources said that the change of political loyalties would see its climax on February 15.
Due to Imran Khan’s growing popularity and the rumours of an impending coup, influential political families have sensed a change of political set-up in the country by March. Many of them are convinced that Khan is set to become the next prime minister of the country due to the support he enjoys from the mighty establishment.
However, despite Khan’s growing popularity in Punjab and some urban centres he is he almost unknown in Sindh’s rural areas. Therefore, Qureshi’s political connections would be exploited to turn the winds in PTI’s favour in interior Sindh.
Qureshi has been tasked to engage in talks with all those PPP, PML-Q and PML-N leaders who have significant votes in their interior Sindh constituencies. The former foreign minister and PPP deserter is also in contact with certain nationalist groups.
Qureshi would start his tour of interior Sindh in the first week of January. He has already held meetings with leaders of four “like-minded groups”. One of the groups is headed by Liaquat Jatoi, the second by Arbab Ghulam Rahim, the third by Ali Gohar Mahar and the fourth by Maqbool Sheikh. All these leaders are deserters of Q-League.
Three important PPP leaders, including two sitting MPAs, would join the PTI after the government dissolved, a source added. The source who attended Qureshi’s meeting with the “like-minded” groups claimed the PPP-led government’s days are numbered.
However, the PPP has formed its own task force, led by Local Government Minister Agha Siraj Durran and Food Minister Nadir Magsi, to negotiate with the leaders of the like-minded group, including Ali Gohar Mahar, Liaquat Jatoi and Altaf Unnar, to bring them into PPP’s fold before the PTI wins their loyalty.
During an informal chat with journalists at his residence, a former PML-N leader admitted off-the-record that he was coming closer to Qureshi.
“Qureshi has given us an indication of political change in the country,” said one source familiar with Qureshi’s meeting with a key politician of Sindh. The source named certain political families who had given a “positive response” to the PTI. They would join the emerging party during its rallies in their respective areas.
The source said that influential leaders of Naushehro Feroz, Dadu, Thar, Larkana and Kashmore had given ‘positive response’ to Qureshi in their initial talks.
Meanwhile, three influential political families — Mahars, Jatois and Unars — held a meeting in Karachi some five days ago to chalk out a future course of action in view of the rapidly changing political scenario. One former minister and now a PPP leader is also in contact with this group, the source said.
On the other hand, four friends and former PML-Q leaders — Maqbool Sheikh, Mir Manzoor Panhwar, Saleem Jan Mazari and Murad Ali Shah — have formed their own group and are likely to join the PTI soon, the source said.
A source quoting the former foreign minister said that the PTI had almost completed its task in Punjab and now they would focus Sindh.
Concerned over these developments, the source said that President Asif Ali Zardari was making contacts with Mahars, Jatois and Unars to persuade them to join the PPP or make an alliance. However, chances are grim that they may join the ruling party because of the government’s weak position, as turncoats are convinced that the establishment is done with the PPP for the time being.
During his talks with the PPP’s task force, Liaquat Jatoi linked his joining the ruling party only if his relative, Mohammed Shah, was given a seat in the next elections from Dadu.
However, the source said that PPP’s Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq was against any such move.
President Zardari himself met Ali Gohar Mahar recently and asked him to join his party. But Mahar reportedly told the president he had to consult his “like-minded friends” before taking a decision. Similarly, the source said Altaf Unar was expected to meet the president on December 28 in Larkana.
One source said majority of turncoats were adopting a wait-and-see policy which would continue till February 15 when situation would become clearer about the PPP’s prospects of completing its tenure.
One nationalist leader revealed that Qureshi would start his Sindh tour by visiting the residence of Syed Jalal Mahmood Shah, chief of the Sindh United Party (SUP) and grandson of late G M Syed. According to him, the nationalist group would not merge with the PTI but form an alliance with it.
The sources claimed a shift was being witnessed in the politics of Jalal Shah. On Dec 23, he told a jalsa in Hyderabad: “Pakistan was created by our elders and it is our responsibility to protect it at every level.”
His grandfather, GM Syed, had abandoned electoral politics, but his successor seems to be changing the course of his politics.
Recently, a group of former politicians, intellectuals and journalists has been formed in Sindh who call themselves reformists. This group has given a call to hold a huge gathering at Bhit Shah on January 22. A source said that they may form their own party or join an existing party.
The Americans created armed militias in Iraq as well to quell the violence there, and now that is being done in Afghanistan too.
And in Libya..
And in Syria...
And in Columbia...
And in dozens of other countries.
They themselves openly acknowledge that. And their leading presidential candidates are going even steps further and openly advocating acts of terrorism which includes assassination of leaders, blasting important economical hubs in countries which do not submit to their strategy.
The first consequence of PTI's successful jalsas, the various PML's might merge by 4th Jan 2012. After the previous elections, PMLQ wanted to join PMLN but Nawaz Sharif full of ego did not want that to happen, now the situation is that he even is willing to form alliances with the other factions. Lets see when the thawing of relations between PMLN and PPP will start. Personally I think Nawaz Sharif has missed the bus as always.
My personal view on this would be that he should definitely not take Ghulam Arbab Rahim (as he is a very divisive personality in Sindh), as far as Liaqat Jatoi is concerned, maybe you can let us know more of his history.

Jatoi was CM Sindh during NS govt and then remained on different ministries during Musharraf's govt. Now I saw him alongwith NS in Larkana jalsa. He is surely thaali ka bengan and big time lota.
Jatoi was Minister for Water & Power during Musharafs era and I rememberMr Zubair Motiwala- Chairman Chamber of Commerce Karachi's telling that he showed his concern for shortage of electricity to Musharaf and the relevant ministry time and again, but no one listened and take that seriously.
Jatoi is such a cruel person that during 2008 election campaign after BB's death, in a PPP jalsa when a young boy (10-12 years old) said: Jiye Bhutto, he ordered his men to shoot the boy.

Thats strange as in the jalsa I expect more people to be shouting slogans. Why pick on one of them and that too a kid?
