PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

MQM sucks upto whoever they think will be in power or is in power, so nothing new here. wish they had some principles other than either we are in govt or we will destroy the peace in Karachi.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

No one is taking the credit here - just telling you the ground reality .... whether you like it or not ...

Do you think MQM - who doesnt let another party to run chanda business in their areas - would let any one else play on their home ground ..

They did - because they were asked to do by the people who control their strings :D

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

Missing Pasha Uncle Today :@:

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

They have lost alot in karachi - the way things are shaping - Karachi politics will go back to its pre 1985 stage ... in 1985 it was JI and Azad candidates .. Now it is going to be PTI and Azad candidates :)

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

whatever people say about MQM/PTI, I will say jalsa is beneficial for karachi fate and obviously for rest pakistan too, and both political party are now facing some real competition.

conducting a jalsa in karachi is not that easy, the fact we all agree upon.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

That’s right. Altaf did not like him because of him calling Altaf mafia leader and what not. But this time around MQM and PTI are hand in hand.
This change of stance is disgusting for BOTH parties. But especially for PTI since it wants to be “different”.

This jalsa had full backing of MQM. This is why Altaf Hussain, former nemesis of Imran Khan, congratulated him on this successful rally.

After Imran Khan’s large public meeting in Lahore on October 30, there has been a significant thaw in otherwise tense relations between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

Immediately after his jaw-dropping power show in the heart of provincial capital, MQM supremo Altaf Hussain issued a statement through Nine-Zero, congratulating the PTI chairman for his successful rally.

In return, Imran has also considerably softened his stance against MQM and in a news briefing here at his party’s central secretariat on December 04, he almost parried a question about the Muttahida. “I will like to talk more on those who have been in government turn by turn instead of commenting on a party that has 20-25 seats in the National Assembly,” quipped Imran, when a journalist asked him about the fate of his application he had filed with the Scotland Yard against MQM leader Altaf Hussain for his alleged indulgence in killings in Karachi.

By this sea-change in his approach towards the MQM, Imran directly or indirectly has deliberately tried to send a positive signal to Altaf’s party, as he knows well, holding a successful public meeting without Muttahida’s blessing may be very difficult if not impossible.

The PTI has fixed December 25 for its public meeting in Karachi, the mega city that houses around 20 million people and is the MQM’s power-base. Its electoral strength is reflected in even in 2008 general election. Muttahida won 17 out of 20 seats from the port city; other three seats went to Pakistan People’s Party.

Imran had boycotted the last electoral exercise, whereas he could manage to bag only single seat in 2002 elections. His party’s representation in Karachi is often viewed symbolic and the December 25 rally can be a litmus test of his growing support there.

But the signals are not only positive but quite encouraging from MQM and whispers can be heard, hinting at a possibility of Altaf and Imran coming closer and this may ultimately lead to formation of an electoral alliance. “We shall welcome Imran in Karachi and accommodate him,” remarked a close aide of Altaf and member of the MQM’s Central Executive Committee Zahid Malik, when The News contacted for his comment on PTI’s planned event.

He contended it was a democratic and constitutional right of every political party to hold public meetings and activities in any city or part of Pakistan. He added MQM would never impede PTI or any other party’s meeting.

MQM Central Information Secretary Wasay Jamil told this correspondent that his party leader was perhaps the only one or the first, who congratulated Imran. Wasay wished good luck to PTI chairman for his slated public meeting.

Asked how would he comment on Imran’s statement a few months back that **the MQM was a very good party and had a realistic manifesto **but wished it shunned militancy through its militant wing, the Muttahida information secretary rejected it and said a political party could not flourish as his party had over the years through militancy and asserted his was a political party, having no such wing.

“We don’t think Imran still believes in this since perceptions are perceptions while a reality is reality,” Wasay maintained and pointed out it was his party that called for an across the board operation to bring back peace in Karachi. And ultimately, the federal government agreed to it and results were before people.

About the chances of the MQM and PTI joining hands, he said it was too early to say anything. A similar view was shared with this correspondent by PTI Information Secretary Omar Sarfraz Cheema.

Cheema said his party would take up this option at the right time and consider joining of hands with like-minded parties or groups.a

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

I think more credit goes to MQM....... they didn't kill 100's of people.........

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

I was impressed by how platform speakers did not shy away from mentioning bhatta khori and target killings amongst other things that plague Karachi, as well as emphasising repeatedly that they city was for all Pakistani's - Sindhi, Mohajir, Pashtun, Baloch and others.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

Wow, just like the collaboration between the pigs and the farmers in Orwell's book. Just like IK I'd like to use a phrase, "thookay ko chaatna".

These politicians would go to any limits to gain power, it's time people stop putting their trust in them and start working for themselves.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

Whenever the name 'MQM's is mentioned, the words which come to people's mind are words like violence and terrorism. And yet the same people are now huffing and puffing for a *peaceful *successful rally in the heart of the city.
So one of the things would be true. Either MQM did not put any resistance whatsoever for this rally, OR PTI workers totally subdued all MQM conspiracies, terrorism and violence and managed to have this successful rally without MQM's support.

Now please read news papers and everyone can see that the first scenario is true. I know many PTI supporters hate MQM (and Urdu speakers in general) but the truth is that MQM and PTI are coming closer due to political expediency.

As far as I am concerned, I would hate MQM making alliance with PTI. It will be a wrong decision and it will be one more bad decision by Altaf.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

I want to liken your post but I don't see the "like" option for some reason.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

They didn't do it because PTI is now a possible future alliance partner of MQM.
Altaf likes to be a smal part of government all the time while Imran wants to become premiere by hook or by crooks. Even if he has to make alliances with the same people he used to abuse and cuss all the time.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

buddy, you even dont know political realities of Karachi. recent wave of violence was due to Zulfiqar Mirza and his armed wing was responsible of klling in Liyari, a strong hold of PPP where MQM is not even allowed to exercise the right of political activities.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

I was referring to some gupshup members who only post here when it comes to abusing MQM and in its disguise Urdu speakers in general. It was not directed towards every PTI supporter. I know a lot of PTI supporters are doing it because they want real change and development in Pakistan. Sorry if it gave wrong message.

I am sure many Urdu speakers will support PTI. There already are many Urdu speakers who support many other parties. I would have supported PTI too if I was not worried about Imran's stance on extremism. To me this issue is more important then any party, whether MQM or PPP or PML or PTI.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

MQM have to be very careful now, after Dr.Mirza exposing them in front of the whole country.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

Here we go again, the ‘victim’ routine

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

The only thing that worries me is people going all mushy over IK and PTI and hence might not be able to remain unbiased towards their own idea of a true leader and leadership.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

I didn't realise Malir, Landhi, Lalukhet were in Lyari!

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

its better to be biased about something short of ideal.........than to remain unbiased for an ideal which doesn't exist.

Re: PTI Karachi Jalsa will decide

Malir and Landhi are strong hold of MQM (afaq).

I have not heard any single news of killing in lalokhet recently.
