Is psychotherapy helpful to reduce the pain during delivery?
Re: Psychotherapy
^ psychotherapy???
what, like a shrink talking your wife through the worst physical pain she's ever had in her life?
Haainn???
If it is the phobia or paranoia related to delivery than may be cognitive therapy can help.
Or do you mean physiotherapy for back pain during pregnancy???
Re: Psychotherapy
sheesh. just give me DRUGS man.
Re: Psychotherapy
Epidural would help much more than 'psychotherapy'..
what do you even mean by therapy? asking her questions like "so how do you feel about this' whens shes clearly in the worst pain of her life?? i would smack my husband if he starts doing that.
Re: Psychotherapy
No.
Re: Psychotherapy
Uff Ali!!!
Are you suggesting “pregnancy” is a state of mental issue?
No it’s DARN physical and no the therapy will not help reduce ANY pain!

Other questions:
Do you think your mother had some influence on your current state?
How about role play? (now that could be a good one)
Why do you think you are feeling angry at this moment?
^LOL
Ali, do you mean hypnosis? I know some women try those self-hypnosis techniques for childbirth; I think it can help some women but susceptibility to hypnosis varies widely from one individual to another.
Re: Psychotherapy
Hypnosis for painless delivery
Hypnosis, is a mind body techniques, It is a process of allowing the mind and body to relax deeply. In hypnosis, suggestions are given, which helps in interpreting contractions as a sensation that is allowed and not oppose them. A person who feels "this is excruciating and extremely painful" has a very different experience from someone who says "this strong sensation means my cervix is opening and now every force can make me a mother of a cute baby."
Many believe hypnosis means being controlled by someone else. This isn’t true as the first premise of this art is that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. No one can force you to do or believe anything that you don’t agree with
Re: Psychotherapy
Water birthing a method for painless delivery
Water birth is a type of hydrotherapy for pain management during delivery. It is very much effective for back pain. In this method the woman is made to sit in a tub of warm water for the delivery. The warmth significantly relieves the pain in the fist stage of delivery while cervix of the uterus opens gradually. The buoyancy of the mother and baby allow for a gravitational pull which not only opens up the pelvis, but also allows the baby to descend more easily. Moreover, due to the documented relaxing effects of water, this method is sometimes associated with a decrease in the intensity of contractions, and is thus thought to slow down labour.
Disadvantage of water birthing is one that there is a chance of infection though water and the other disadvantage is the risk of water inhalation by the baby.
Re: Psychotherapy
Trust me, delivering a baby is one of the most natural processes and we don’t need any fancy methods here…at that time you don’t want anything exotic around you for god’s sake…all you need to do is push and it’ll be over sooner that you know it ![]()
