Provincial Budgets 2013

three of four provincial govts announced their budgets today and KPK has lead in terms of revolutionary steps.

  • 32 percent of total budget allocation is for education & health sectors. No gimmicks there. Just shows IK & PTI’s commitment in investing in human development rather than gimmicks. !9 percent of education is the highest in terms of education budget allotment while 13 percent for health is not far behind either.

  • No new taxes for KPK :k:

will post more details as I read thru the budget.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf-led provincial government was presenting its maiden budgetary plan for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with an outlay of Rs 344 billion for the 2013-14 financial year, of which Rs. 211 billion have been allocated for current revenue expenditures which is 10 per cent more than the outgoing fiscal.

The session was being addressed by provincial finance minister Sirajul Haq.

The minister said the budget had been divided to satisfy tasks pertaining to welfare, development and administration.
The budget allocates Rs 118 billion to the Annual Development Program (ADP).

Under the budget, the PTI-led KP government will introduce 531 new schemes in addition to the ongoing 565 which had been set in motion by its predecessor.

The minister said that Rs. 83 billion have been allocated for Provincial Development Programme (PDP) which is 12 per cent more than the approved estimates of the current fiscal year.

The PDP, he said, is comprised on 983 projects including 609 ongoing and 374 new, saying more funds were allocated for ongoing projects to ensure its timely completion.

The budget moreover allocates a record massive Rs.66.60 billion to the education sector. Rs. 22.80 billion have been allocated for the health sector followed by Rs. 23.78 billion for the police department, Rs. 3.12 billion for the irrigation department, Rs. 1.97 billion for promotion of technical education and manpower training, Rs. 2.91 billion for the agriculture sector, Rs.1.27 billion for environment, Rs. 4.93 billion for communication and works sector, Rs 0.24 billion for pension and Rs.11.16 billion for debt clearance.

The budget also proposes a subsidy of Rs 2.5 billion on wheat without imposing any additional taxes.

The government has also decided on a 15 per cent increase in the salaries of government employees falling within the Grade 1 to Grade 16 bracket. Moreover, there would be a 15 per cent increase in the pension of retired government workers.

The minister also said that Rs. 35 billion under head of foreign assistance is expected in the current fiscal year. (Dawn)

That's a supremely impressive budget from a party that's never been in power before! PTI has done its homework very well and hats of to Imran Khan for providing the vision and hope. I can only imagine what this budget would to do boost the confidence and morale of people of KPK. All the very best to PTI and the people of KPK.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

I laughed when i read this. I agree DA!. This provincial budget is slap to previous government as well as other provinces. Go IK Go!

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

FIR system "computerization" may be helpful, what we need more is in fact overhaul of police system (investigation), hopefully "Thana culture change" will be beginning of that.

Hydro projects are good.

Loans of Rs 50,000 to Rs 200,000??? Is this for yellow-rickshaws?

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

We need to stop this act "slap on other provinces", "take this NS/SS/PMLN", lets just focus on what PTI can do.... yes "take that previous govt" should be okay IMHO.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

Special funds for Kaalash valley WOW

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

I dont know whether this news is true or now
IK to make some hospitals in Peshawar from his own money
Is this true?

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

good budget overall thumbsup now that's competition. end result will be only good for our country

as far as computerization of police record/ FIR etc, that's awesome, but i wonder how lodging FIR over the phone/internet would be handled, it can turn out to be very cumbersome

also what is this "self sufficiency scheme" (small loans) is doing here? isn't it something PTI fellows have been criticizing soooo much for PMLN for doing?

land record computerization, is again very good. not to forget that yesterday Punjab's official answered in SC that punjab's land record computerization has been completed (in terms of data gathering) and they have setup few stations to trial run of the usage of data. they are likely to finish it this year or max by next year, talking in terms of PTI computer will replace "patwari", so KP needs to speed up on that, Sindh and Balochistan are way behind in this respect

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

SKMH Peshawar was approved long ago and i believe will be set on development course in faster pace, if you call that "his own money"?

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

I am not even talking about SKMH because we all know thats not his money :)
