Provincial Budgets 2013

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

Computerization of land record would be a massive development if they can do it. It would reduce a lot of cost on common man and reduce a lot of burden on judiciary arising from land disputes.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

Not even agricultural tax? that would be sad given how vocal PTI has been for agri tax.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

I read it on fb :p

no Its slap on other political parties

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

being vocal about something while out of govt and actually doing that after coming to power are two things oceans apart

PTI has been vocal about bad impact of giving out soft/small loans, but they also included this in this budget
PTI has been vocal about bad impact of giving subsidiary on wheat (sasti roti/tandoor etc) but they have also included this (2 billion) though small amount but provides cushions against unwanted protests etc

overall still good budget, these are realities we are coming to know and accept now, we learn from experience that making claim is one thing but actually doing it entirely different

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

Finance minister mentioned that a revenue reforms committee has been put in place to increase tax net. PTI was in favour of increasing tax net but this is a coalition govt & some aspects were included on behest of JI. For example, for local bodies election 2 billions are not enough if you want to automate the system which is PTI's wish. But that ministry is with JI & not enough allocation for that. Similarly loans were introduced without interest on JI's wish.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

interesting, good parts of budget are from PTI, bad from JI.
it was JI who holds finance ministry here, if we are saying they are responsible for things we dont like in budget, we should give them credit for the ones we like, pick and choose in every aspect of life is not good.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

aray bhai There is more than one good thing from JI in the budget. I can tell you this one. The pay increase was from JI. PTI wanted to keep it to a minimum. but JI managed to get it to increase to certain extent. Which is good.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

There are not many big farmers in KPK who can earn millions of rupees from agriculture like feudal lords in interior sindh and south punjab do.So taxing agriculture in kpk wont bring in much revenue anyway.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

one downside of KPK budget is lack of internal revenue generation. Target set is just around 5% of the revenue. Rest is dependent on NFC & other sources.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

and not to forget 10% (Rs 35b) foreign aid! which foreign aid? wasn't imran to reject all foreign aid? and this is not already granted, its an "expectation". money already allocated under different expense heads expecting 35b rupees of foreign aid means govt will need to lobby for this aid to get money for to meet the expenses.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

btw, Sindh assembly has allocated a very impressive 110b to education. Good stuff. For the first time in sindh's history.

This healthy competition between provinces for good governance & reforms can only be good for pakistan.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

If we want people to stop voting on the basis of caste, ethnicity, religious sects, class, electables then we should indeed encourage people comparing, rejecting, accepting parties based on their policies.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

end result will be shown within a year that who is practicaly implementing and who is just benefiting for ownself.

editing to post in different thread

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

These budget numbers r like election results every source is giving different numbers.
From now on everything will be a pissing contest between Notanki League and PTI?

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

I am afraid so. But newspapers & channels are to blame. They have released figures without reading budget documents in detail.

Re: Provincial Budgets 2013

actually after these budgets the common discussion everywhere is "My Party's budget is good, your parties budget is bad" with no clue what one is talking about : D
it must be objective, case to case basis, some points are good somewhere some are bad
most people who are new to politics because of PTI factor (as they brought in lots of young blood which is good) don't know that many things they are thinking are first timers, are actually not first timers.
the best part of KP budget is huge increase in Education and Health, which is for sure a first timer, but in KP.
in punjab education has been getting upto 20% allocation for quite a few years now and in last 6-7 (i will include PMLQ era too) there is some good progress in education over all as compared to rest of the country. south is lagging behind, that's true, but its fast catching up.

another thing which most of us dont know is Land Record Computerization, it was first initiated/proposed in 90s in Punjab, then it got buried, then PMLQ started this in 2006, but couldn't much progress and almost put it to sleep in a year by 2007, then again PMLN took it up after 2008, and by 2011 there were 3-5 one-window operation offices were running with complete computerized record. and last week answering in SC they mentioned that data entry for the whole province has been completed 100%, and arrangements are being done to put in place these service booths throughout punjab, and its likely to complete by the next year. Sindh was no where close, KP had some work already done (ANP started) but they said it will take one more year to complete data entry, and Balochsitan has not even started yet.
