Proud Pakistani?

Re: Proud Pakistani?

Oh its working. That is why you are still responding to me.

I know some muslims, not Pakistanis who don't respond to a greeting from a hindu when they say Salam. They don't share the same dishes and when I moved into a room where a hindu lived, (he did puja there) they did some thing to "clean" the room.

Not sure what the religious edicts are but I have seen it here (darfur) and elsewhere.

Re: Proud Pakistani?

Im responding because I own this thread and I can come and go as I please. :)

Where I live, there are a lot of ethnic grocery stores...some of them are Indian stores owned by Hindus. My mom frequents one in particular and the shop owner knows her now. One day I went and she was helping me gather various things around the store and offered me mithai. I refused...it was Ramadan and I was fasting. She apologized and that was that. I went to the counter to pay for my things and she had made me a little box for Iftari. It had mithai, puri, some idli/sambar/dont know what it is, and some kaju mithai. She said this is from me to you and your mom for your Iftari tonight. I was speechless.

How can I hate people like that? I cant. I simply cannot.

Re: Proud Pakistani?

So if I post in this thread does that mean you own me as well? This may have potential? And if you post in my thread does that mean I own you?

I wear a rakhi. Have been wearing it since 2000. My didi who is Indian, Hindu and looks after me just like an older sister has been my friend and close confidente for 9 years now. I have been to her wedding in India, she cooks for me whenever I am in Geneva and regularly get yelled at by her for my stupid actions.

That does not change the reality of politics on the ground. Politics are void or morality, ethics or any notion of good or equality. You do what is best for your people, screwing over others. You do what is necessary to protect your nation state and defend whatever is necessary no matter what is the cost.

Re: Proud Pakistani?

No, it means I own everyone that posts in this thread but no one owns me. Who said life was fair?

Did you make up that story just now? I smell daal mein kala!

Okay, so if we go with what you're saying...who are our people? People who live in Pakistan? People who are ABCDs with Pakistani origin? The FOBs who are no longer there? Or strictly people who are living and breating in Pak right now? And what about our fellow Muslims since nationalism is frowned upon in Islam? Do they not count first? And if they do, what about Indian Muslims?

seriously! tht is wat i think!! my phoppa and cousins husband are the same way and they have been living in America for abt 25 or 30 years or so! some people have such segregated thoughts. if we keep it like this... i dnt think issues will ever get better with india and pakistan it`ll just get worse!

Re: Proud Pakistani?

Anyway I am done with this.

Re: Proud Pakistani?

i bet CM gets rakhees from a lot of girls. :)

Re: Proud Pakistani?

^ That would explain a few things.................lol

You know you are this close to getting kicked out and banned from this forum...? yeh that is what these forum gods do if you try to tell the truth or have some logic in your post.

Be proud Pakistani, without knowing what the H--- is that you are proud of, I tell ya....hate Americans, hate Indians, and hate anyone who criticizes Pakistan ....(BTW, I abso-effin-lutely 100% agree with all your posts)

Regards

:hmmm:

I didnt know I was about to be banned. I dont even have any warnings yet!

What I have to say is not something people like to hear. Why? Because it goes against what the majority thinks. A lot of Pakistani born westerners disagree with it because it makes them uncomfortable and like Im pointing fingers at them. Im not. Im simply stating a problem and hoping I can make a difference. The difference doesnt have to be a negative one. Its not necessary that our initial reaction to what someone does or says be the right one. Patriotism is great! But its STILL a dividing line we've created amongst ourselves.

We're not living in an era where our actions were ignored and no one cared about what Muslims did. I consider it a personal responsibility to do what I can to make Muslims look like wonderful people. Because what I do has an impact on the next Muslim too. Sure, some of you may not agree with my choices like posting my voice in VG but its not about only me is it? You can waste your time picking on me or you can do something positive about it in your own way.

Heera, contrary to what you believe about western Muslims, we're not completely devoid of religion. We dont have BFs and GFs, drink and club all night long. If you think girls here wear bad clothes, then take a peek over in Fashion and Beauty. The trends are being set in Pakistan by Muslims, not ABCDs in America. If you think ABCDs cant understand Urdu, Ill give you my own example, I can speak, read and write Urdu and I only went to Pakistan a couple of times as a child. That goes for my sisters too. My grandmother taught me the Quran and I finished it at the age of 8 or 9 without mistakes and since then repeat it so I dont forget what she taught me. Parents here have to work twice as hard to create the atmosphere for their kids and you, a newcomer think they let their kids roam around wild like sheep? That is a stereotype and just like FOBs hate being considered masala-smelling, belching uncles with the table manners of a cow, we dont like being considered immoral aliens from another planet who dont have a clue. And again, if you hate ABCDs and Indians so much, why are you here? Dont raise your kids here because western influence is ALL around you. You cant seclude them, you cant isolate them. The TV is western, the newspapers are western, the teachers are western and so are the books they will read. All western, 110% American. They will see Christmas, Halloween and Valentine' Day, believe it or not. If that scares you, go back home. If you dont like America, you should leave. But dont do that "jis thaali mein khate hein, usi thaali mein ched" thing. You're here taking advantage of all the good things but bad mouthing Americans at the same time? That kind of mentality is what makes non-Muslims distrust Muslims.

You want to be a Proud Pakistani, by all means go right ahead. But a Pakistani that leaves his/her own country voluntarily cannot critisize or condemn anyone else's patriotism now. How can you question anyone else's love for their country when you left it yourself?

India and Pakistan making peace. It can be done. It should be done. Its more then possible. It requires taking a difficult route which not too many people are up for. Swallowing your anger is a thousand times harder then letting it out on someone. You shouldnt be concerned with what India thinks of you, you should be worried about how Muslims all over the world will be treated based on your actions. That should be your driving motivation to make peace and do as much good as possible.

You expect people to read all of this ?......

Re: Proud Pakistani?

^ You dont have to if you dont want to. No one's putting a gun to your head. Are they?

Re: Proud Pakistani?

every one leave PS alone.
thing is we fobs have a layered personality when it comes to india. We do talk to them as its easier then talking to say arab/angreez. That is because we have same language and some what similar culture.

On the other hand read this joke

a ship was sinkin captain said "we have to lose weight"
amreeka stand up says "long live US" and jump off the boat.
japanes gets up say some thing and jumps off into the sea.
Then paki gets up says "allah ho akbar" and kick an INDIAN into the sea.

that attaude was developed by watching india doing things to pak.
We dont interact indians in pak, we see india as out enemy for right reasons.

Now ppl in west interact indian on reg. basis. So there is nuterlizing factor too.
When fobs look at that nuterlized person they often say"you are not proud"

my 2 cents.

These are people you want peace with. And people wonder why I think you guys know jack **** about what happens in Pakistan. Well done on the peace initiatives. While you guys are discussing peace, add to that list disintegrating the country.

Re: Proud Pakistani?

what are we talking about here? boycotting indian products, bollywood, hate indians? They are responsible, they are responsible. When will we stop pointing the fingers at each other and acusse 'em for the misery?

I bet, that if the Pakistani People lived as true Muslims they would shine Today! Like the Holy Prophet and the 10.000 Saints shined forth from Mount Paran!

A Muslim state? hahahaha! Please!

CM, of course you do. What else would you think with that ‘holier then thou’ attitude that is so common among yur kind?

What would you like CM? A pat on the back for posting that article? Only you can read and use the internet right? BRAVO CM! How about a cookie to go along with that? There, does your patriotic self feel better now?

You know what I think? I think you know jack **** about being Pakistani because all you do is fume about this and fume about that.

At the end of the day…you do jack **** for your country and the people living in it so dont come here preaching and thumping your chest about ABCDs not knowing anything because sweetheart…posting an article doesnt make you Pakistani.

Seriously, who the hell do you think you are? Im so sick of your self-righteous and egotistical junk its ridiculous. Who died and made you God?

Re: Proud Pakistani?

I stopped reading after several posts.

Absolutely agree with the person who boycotted Indian products.

Its his choice to show some attachment to Pakistan. So be it. No need to bash this person.

Having said that this does not mean hatred at all. One can listen to the music from India or watch selected non-politically motivated movies and even from Pakistan. I personally like music from India and singers. *That's not hypocrisy that's being selective and rational.
*

Saieen Ji and others have been right on the money in several posts whatever I could read.

Anyone thinking Aar Ya Paar kind of action is wrong. Just be selective in the choice.

If one can avoid Indian product then why not?

Its nothing to do with living anywhere.
