Too often I go to desi event, gatherings, and I meet these girls, who when you sit and try to have a conversation with them, they wont do anything to move the conversation forward. I mean, I guess they smile and answer your topic starting questions nicely, but then they sit there quietly. And you have to prod further by other conversation material…
Urgh. It’s so annoying. I end up walking away and trying to have a conversation with someone else, but honestly, I feel like most desi girls at desi parties are like this. They’re just so super guarded, it’s hard to make friends.
Some of the girls I've seen are reserved at first.....but open up as time goes on ....and the conversation progresses. Even the ones that I'm not overly close to....make some effort at conversation....and are for the most part civil. People/crowds vary.
Maybe they don't know you very well.....and it takes them a while to become comfortable. Or perhaps they are indeed snooty. If you see that the effort isn't being reciprocated at all.....move on....mingle with other people.
now back to the topic,i think this is desi nature,just to be reserve with the strangers.i remember when i first came to canada,where ever i used to see a desi ,i always gav them a friendly smile,and in return used to get acold glare.on the its easy to talk to a gora than a desi:D

shes the only one with enough guts on gs to say it like it is anyways ..

I would consider her abilities to hold a conversation far superior than most on GS. Her topics may be the "same old subject" on GS, but she is not boring to say the least.
But then again you lot (save for Jaanwar) couldn't hold a multi-dimensional conversation if your life depended on it.

Actually I cant get it. Why would someone feel interest to talk to "desi people" or interfere with them, when he or she dont like them at all? Just to come here and start whining about it and making a millions of reasons why you dont like desis? Strange though.

I went to a desi dinner party recently where I knew only the hostess. It was pretty tough to get the conversation going, I’m a chatterbox while others were not. You know what I did, I started talking about Meera’s interview on the Nadia Khan show… after that the rest was history Nobody could keep their mouth shut and the level of participation was astonishing.
