to answer your question, the US…

• removed the taliban government from power overnight
• kept them out of power for a decade - relegating them to caves and pakistani safehouses
• ended the use of afghanistan as a safe haven for al-qaeda and a sanctuary for them to plan attacks like 9/11
• decimated al-qaeda including killing osama bin laden and most of its other leaders
• ensured that the taliban will never harbor al-qaeda again, even if the taliban regains power in the future

what else do you want? every core US objective has been achieved in full.

the people you call terrroist who you will never negotiate or talk with ever!!! you now begging them to attend conferences so you can leave with an ounce of dignity.

your definition and attempt to salvage amercain credibility has failed, with all that fire power you came with shock and awe in 2001 you bombed everything from man women and child you did not even spare the animals and now look at you leaving with a whimper humiliated by a nation who nobody helped including so called islamic countries of saudi arabia, turkey UAE.

one more thing since your are non muslim, victory for muslim is two options, either gaining victory or dying a martyr in the process so its win which ever happens.

why are you talking of controlling afghanistan? that is an irrelevant goal.

maybe you should go even further and add “all taliban must voluntarily get a tattoo of the US flag” to your definition of victory for the US.
