Why not Whey ?
I would say they are only good if you 100% committed to them.
My own experience: They taste like crap, they mess your stomach up and make you feel bloated.

M - Did you get a six pack? I just end up being a sick paki! Lolzzzzzzz!
Lussi - Stick to fresh chicken breast etc! Its better for you.
I switched to Detour bars. They pack about 30g of protein per bar and it's the best tasting protein bar me thinks, minus the side-effects of protein shakes.
creatine helps, if you want mass, or MRP's..Meal replacement Powders
eas myoplex offers some good flavours. but thats mrps which i am talking about. for just protein intake you can try precision protein from eas which comes in a no of different flavours. u have to try them out to see if you like it or not.
mrps/protein shake is a food supplement and is there for convenience: if you have a busy schedule and cannot afford to cook 5/6 times a day then mrps/protein shakes are ur best option. however, one is not suppose to consume an mrp more than 3 times a day.
and whey protein is good for gaining mass. unlike soy..
true.. but 99% of whey protein is made from animal resource.. pig's intestines to be precise.. :-) plus having protein shakes, and not burning it PROPERLY, turns all that protein into carbs and fat.. (i thought protein>fat wasnt possible but it is)
hmm...so protein shakes are not all that good hunh..
what abt those bar thingies? are they good? i just want to complement my weightlifting with a good diet. Due to time constraints its not possible for me to eat like 8 times a day to bulk up. SO instead im turning towards these bars to get the required protein etc
Try egg protein instead of whey. Ive never personally used it though, but my whey protein pack is going in the dumbster (all 7 pounds of it :( )
lus: if u ARE doing weights and gymming.. then go rite ahead and drink atleast 1 shake a day.. thats fine.. (doing weights does enough ware'n tear to muscles so for the re-defining part of them, it burns enough energy)
If you are serious about gaining some muscle bulk than you should be taking 1 gram of protein per pound of body weighT. So, if you are 175 pounds, include 175 grams of protein in your daily diet. I followed this routine and gained about 4 pounds in one week! but it's not easy to do all the time.
Some good sources:
Detour Protein bars: Tried and tested, so far so good, the only side-effect: some stinky az burps. 30 grams of protein. I use it daily.
Eggs: I make half to a dozen egg omelete for breakfast. I use two whole eggs and egg whites.
Chicken: Half a chicken in one sitting is purty good protein boost.
Fish: Talapia fillets are purty good. It has 40 grams of protein per serving.

I wish i could affoard to eat so much (the chicken ,bars and other stuff included).
Us poor college students really get shafted when it comes to protein!
I love eating tilapia though ( having it right now) and its relatively cheap too.
I think the only expensive item on the menu is the protein bar, they are about $2.00 per bar.
I try to eat dozen eggs in breakfast but most days it's half dozen.
Some other suggestions:
Reduced fat cheese to include a dairy portion. You can slap a slice over omelete for breakfast.
Breakfast: 6-12 egg (2 whole eggs plus egg whites) omelete with 2 slices of 9 grain or whole wheat bread (pepperidge farm makes good bread) with or without reduced fat cheese (cheese also has protein).
If I remeber correctly 1 egg has about 6 grams of protein, slice of cheese about 4 and piece of 9 grain bread about 2 per slice bringing the grand total with 6 eggs to about 46 grams of protein.
Lussi I hope you gain some weight. You're the skinnest guy on gs.:p
