It is sad indeed, which is why seems like the pakistani medical system needs to be changed.

But I do still maintain that these tamashay go on even here in the States, although maybe it’s a little less likely, with all the loans, and time / money saccrifice here, maybe many desi girls who otherwise would have played the system to get proposals will probably never make those seats.

I dunno, I figure if you’re too busy husband hunting in college, you’re going to make for a less competetive applicant , but I’ve seen situations where the best kept women who men are crazy after → get seats. Cuz they’re just that darn good.

Regardless, yeah, it PEEVES me off to no extent what happens with these seats. Do you know how many people want to become docs and can’t cuz they don’t make the cut? But they probably would have been AWESOME docs?

I’ve met some DO’s and Carribean trained docs that are FANTASTIC, and some pharmacists and PA’s that would have been FANTASTIC if they had gone to med school. Clearly, a lot of good applicants are getting elbowed out, and they would have been docs otherwise if it hadn’t been for wasted seats!

There usually is minimal difference between DO’s and MD’s. actually DO seats are pretty difficult to come by these days. Fact is a lot of people want to get into the medical profession. When the economy is bad people stay in school longer…the question is how many actually do it to serve Humanity? If OBAMACARE becomes a reality doctors won’t be paid that much. There status will similar to that of physicians in countries with SOCIALIZED MEDICINE.
