I’m not asking why you work as a programmer, but whether you have a passion for the act of programming. I think of programming the same way as an artist thinks of painting or a poet writes a poem, it’s not simply a means to an end, or a job, but something inside of you that needs to be expressed or something which you have to solve and you look for the solution in your head.
I love the art of debugging, especially figuring out problems with almost no information. Another thing I love to do is start a new program, I love to play with different soft wares. What I really love is tackling something no one else knows how to do, or maybe no one has ever tried to do. That’s the most magical thing of all, figuring out how to write a program to do something totally unique, or even seemingly impossible. Some programs are boring , some are interesting and for some you can’t wait to complete it. I love that amazing feeling you get after you implement an amazing new feature that works perfectly, yeahhh I created the bouncy ball game in eclipse, happy moments.
I love to program, sometime It takes my frustration away and sometime it makes me much more frustrated,it depends. How about you?
^^ Ever since I started I have always looked for a challenge and accomplishing that challenge have always made me feel great about myself....When I m with my manager and he is trying to accomplish something and tells me about it and I have to turn around and program that code and when I get to tell him that the requirement is done that just makes my day....
Also, I think of a site or a project that I have worked on as a child and take it very seriously .....I also love debugging....

Oh well I use to do it for pure challenge but now I do it for MONEY . I read and learn new stuff all the time , so I can do stuff what others can't , which simply translates in to more money .

I don't have a background in programming but I think if I knew some, it would help me tackle a lot of what I'm getting into. I think it's the need of the times and I'd like to have my kids learn various types of programming. I can understand how it feels to create and fix something... I do get the opportunity to feel that way when I'm writing or designing something. Perhaps the programming challenge is more in sync with the modern world and it's never too late to learn and catch up.
At the end of the day, it is the only thing which everybody want in life. Well, for me its to make my customer happy as long as they are happy with my application I am also happy.
I only annoy when It shows *khabasat *at debugging , where I cant see result because of late binding. overall I am in favor of LINQ, it is just too cute to have a feeling of query execution within the program.
I loved programming when i learned it first, i couldn't sleep for nights without thinking about the logic and algorithms for my next silly program. I made a complete Snake & Ladder game for my niece with pure C, no additional libraries no frameworks, its all pure C compiled on those ancient Intel Turbo C compilers. I spent days and nights to make it work, do the bitmap graphics with C arrays /structs. Then i found debugging, and lost in that world forever. I still love to programming, thats why i started working on mobile apps (android and IOS), the feeling is still the same, learning new libraries/API's/Frameworks. Am going to make a Androip/IOS Game/App for my Nieces :), its a fun project with no deadline.
Here comes the genius programmer. Surely, your boss is happy with you.
I wish the same too. As a learner , I am trying my best to learn more. No worries, you 'll get to read long long replies here.
And this thread has definitely a purpose because I 'll keep it alive till I am on the GS.
You feel the same way? fair enough! :k:
Thanks for showing me the way ---------------------------------> Dollars.
Mamu jee, Who said it is a language? It is an editor.
I always feel knowing programming is a great blessing to IT geeks. Do you wish, you studied IT at university as you love C&IT?
STA, you are not only a programmer , you are business man too who wants to make sure his customers are happy with his product. And what else?
WOw, you did the real work. I gave up my night sleep to understand programming too. When I did programming for long hours later I realized it was on my mind for 24/7. My mind was thinking the solution, which method should i use to solve the specific issue but I couldn’t spend more time like you have set a goal to create a game. It really motivates.

I'm not sure I love C & IT to the point I'd like to be an IT consultant. I just like cool things. Stuff like nice apps, nifty gadgets and all. I like to keep myself updated with what's new and cutting edge.
Yes knowledge of some programming would definitely help in my day to day tasks such as building my school website but I'm not sure I could handle it as a profession. I have to tell you that many years ago, right after high school, we were in Africa then, I got admission in their computer science program for a 4 year degree. I studied for a few months, but that was mainly preliminary coursework, some basic computer stuff, and had to leave to return to join college India. I changed my coursework completely around at that time, lol!
All the non IT Folks wanting to learn about techy concepts should check out the free courses here. Some of the courses are for people without a CS background
Let me tell you, I am in IT , I love the real stuff coding ,knowledge about computers but I don’t like reading much about Phones and gadgets, may be I am too busy learning one thing. That is really good you are a non IT person but you know about phones more than me and you are updated about latest gadgets in the market.
