minimum wage, your duties and round would already be established.
theres plenty of semi retired people looking for these jobs, and plenty of positions waiting to be filled. the low wages keeps the industry in high labour turnover mode
its attractive to business people because its easy to set up and they could be out vying for contracts in no time. thats why there is an abundance of franchises being offered in this industry

^ they don't make minumum wage. They actually make a decent amount of money.
The average for a 4 bedroom house if $70- 100... and they clean about 2 houses a day.
So thats 700 a week; break that by 40 hours $17.50/hr.
This depends. If it is a large cleaning company, then the owner of the company makes good money (in my city - they might charge up to $25-$30 and hour per cleaner). But of that money, a small amount goes to the cleaner themselves. There was a series of articles a year or so back showing that the cleaning staff made about minimum wage or a touch higher.
If it is an independent cleaner, he/she may charge the rates you’ve indicated.
We had a cleaning service and they were amazing (we moved and had to give them up 
). They charged $80 to come every week - and cleaned the house top to bottom. The thing was - they did the cleaning in just under an hour (we had an average modest-sized home) but there were 5 people who came and did the tasks together so it took a fraction of the time.
Also, professional cleaners are bonded.

Yuppers, I'm talking about the women who are in business for themselves.
Normally the ones that work with companies are rushed and the pickup van is outside honking while they are still finishing up.
But the downside is that they arent insured.
The other thing that bothers the crap out of me with the 5 people comming into my home.
And they arent always the same people right?

sorry muniya, but im from otherside of the pond. our domestic cleaning market, although tipped for growth, is virtually non-existent.
context of cleaning jobs in the uk are limited to the commercial market
