you come to all have the same friends and are expected to socialise!!
im sitting happily in my room cleaning up before i leave for the holidays. been in my pjs all day, got besan mask on my face…and then there’s a knock on my door followed by “oh kidaan kuriye?” im like wait! dont come in im not decent!! and the answer is “decent ya na decent mai andar araha” … and i run to my door n lock it. silly billies. The UK brit who pretends to speak punjabi but cant - friends of my housemate.
Tell me about it!
I spent Millenium Eve washing other peoples dishes and cleaning the kitchen when I shared a house with 4 other girls whilst at UNI!!!
The other downside is when someone borrows something of yours in the kitchen/bathroom and tries so hard to make sure they leave no trace that they ahve used it - but in trying so hard…they make it look so obvious!!!
But even having said that… I’d do it again!!! It was the best 3 years of my life…
yes the dishes are a big problem!! as only two of us (out of 5) ever clean up! lucky we have a maid come in 3 times a week, if it wasnt for her it would be disastrous!! initially i used to get so upset, but now i just quietly do the dishes to maintain the peace!

Now you are talking I used to live with a couple of room mates as a student in USA in the beginning , man o man , were they messy. I used to feel nauseated all the time. Then I found a Pakistani family who took me in as a paying guest that was the best arrangement. I did not have to do anything even making up my bed or cleaning my room. It was all taken care of.
