**PARENTS: ** If you raise your children in America and they’re born in America, expect them to be Americans – NOT Paki’s. And most of all, don’t expect them to follow your religion (Islam). And if you’re not happy with your children, then just go back to your country where you came from.
Re: Problem with Paki parents moving abroad...
Maybe preserving and seeding the Pakistani identity would be difficult, but the constitution of the United States ensures full liberty to follow whatever religion you want so why cant parents expect to have their children follow your religion.

Agree on the "Paki" part, but not the religion. No reason an American cannot be a Muslim.

**not necessarily true...it all depends how u raise your children...there are great kids with Islamic values born and raised here...it's ur misconception. ur child can go astray even in Pakistan if u do NOT invest ur time in raising them. if u ain't religious urself then u can't expect ur kids to be one...it's all in your hands to most part.
Re: Problem with Paki parents moving abroad...
I guess maybe he's trying to imply that the liberty in the US gives the kids to explore all their religious (or lack of religious) options...
Re: Problem with Paki parents moving abroad...

Well, I'm not saying that an American can't be a Muslim, but being born and raised in America it's unfair for Pakistani parents to expect their children to follow their religion.

Correct.

you cant compare an expectation with compulsion here - nothing wrong if one expects something he/she considered as beneficial for him/herself for his/her love ones !
Re: Problem with Paki parents moving abroad...
Agree with the american part but not the Islam part.
And same for british pakistanis.
I wish other people would understand this too and GS people would stop telling me off for saying I am much much comfortable marrying a western raised pakistani then a pakistani national :( even though i understand i have to be open minded. Im like 75% british and 25% pakistani.

Leave the parents…![]()
Re: Problem with Paki parents moving abroad…
That’s crazy. Parents have every right to expect their children to follow their religion. Otherwise they might as well stop bothering with the religious upbringing, the kid can choose his own religion right? ![]()
Re: Problem with Paki parents moving abroad...
What a troll LMAO. I was born in Amreekistaan but I'm more kattar than my own parents with some things. They raised me to pray, with other Pakistanis and in an area with a decent amount of masjids. I aint no white washed kid.
Re: Problem with Paki parents moving abroad...
I also expect these Pakistani parents who have adopted US as their new home to boot the kids out at 18 and ask them to fend for themselves or pay rent if they are staying at home when such yipyap is heard, yeah make your choices, follow what you want, do what you want, but at your own dime and yes leave the keys to the bmw on the table when you leave. Too many spoilt mummy daddy yankistanis who are all american when it suits them and all pakistani when it suits them.
