hi ladies plz tell me where am i wrong?i am a lactating mother of a 4 months old..for the first 3 months my milk supply was quite good but for the last one month since i have started to control my diet and focused on weight loss,my milk supply has reduced alot😞..I AM NOT AT ALL ON STRICT DIET..i have just cut down on sugar n rice.here is my everyday diet..plzz tell me what should i add or what could be the possible reason for reduced milk supply. i take:
3 cups of low fat milk
5 tablespoons of oats or 2 weatabix biscuits in milk
1 litre water
1 boiled egg
1 apple
1banana ,at times 2
1 cup green tea
2 cups black tea
3-4 dates
handful of nuts,sometimes more
one roti at nite with whatever salan is cooked at home
for many reasons:
the first thing many times i pump out the milk when my baby refuses to take so the quantity has reduced alot and many times no milk is expressed at all.
secondly my baby is most of the times hungry even after taking my milk..i can even feel my baby getting weaker 😞
Also ur diet seems great for weight loss, but if u restrict calories enough... ur milk supply WILL go down. I don't know how many calories ur eating but go back to ur regular diet (cut out the sugar tho) and see if that helps. If it does end up being a diet issue, then it depends on u... do u want to lose weight or continue bf'ing until a certain time?
When ur baby refuses to feed, what do u do? Does he get formula or do u just not feed him then?
sometimes i give him
formula and at times i express milk when he refuses..

yeah i hope that helps..i will try adding more carbs
Yeah, adding even a few formula feeds affects milk supply. Do a day of just lying in bed and feed feed feed like crazy. Even if he refuses just breastfeed all the time lol. The stimulation will make ur body think u need more milk and u will produce more.
Your diet is very restricted even for a non lactating woman. You need to take 300 extra calories a day if you are nursing. It used to be 500 but the latest recommendations are 300. You need to take 1500 calories a day and lose weight on that too. Seems like you are taking about a 1000 calories a day. The only proper meal you take is at night. Please take breakfast, lunch and dinner, even if it's not heavy. Drink lots of water. You could take oatmeal with fat free milk for breakfast, followed by an apple. Have a fried egg with 2 egg whites ( in cooking spray or very little oil) with low calorie whole wheat bread and a salad. Follow up later with fruit. Eat your usual salan at night with vegetables. Drink lots of water too. Consult the doctor as well.
Expressing will not give you an accurate idea. Babies are much more efficient than pumps at getting milk out. Also do not do any diet restriction for at least six months. Your supply is still establishing. Feed as much as you can.
Babies are only efficient if they make the effort. Cute Ainee.. you shouldn't be restricting your diet at all but also what sticks out to me is your baby refusing to nurse sometimes... you want to look at why that could be and try to fix it.

Hmm... I wanna know how you can breastfeed all the time when your baby is screaming and hitting you any time you bring him/her close?

Lots of skin to skin. It really helps calm baby down. Also get some help. Lactation consultant, breastfeeding clinics, your midwife, kellymom website, YouTube vids. Lots of support out there. Try different positions
Babies will have times where they refuse to bfeed, if u supplement those times with formula/bottles as OP has done... it makes it more difficult to get them to go back to the breast cos bottle nipples have a faster, easier flow.. whereas when babies bfeed they have to work hard for the first few mins before milk flows properly. I think OP's issue migt be just that... baby is more fond of bottle than breast. She hasn't wrote that he refuses bottle feeds. If her baby is hitting pushing away and crying despite all methods of soothing, then don't feed. Wait a while.. usually within 30 mins or so of their regular feeding time baby will be hungry enough not to push away.
