Does primer make any difference to your makeup? Personally, I dont think so. I use a primer just cos a primer sort of protects your skin from getting clogged by make up (read it somewhere).
Aloe vera gel works a lot better to be honest. I dont know how many of you have tried it, but try using aloe vera gel (from a leaf!) before the moisturizer and your make up will go on a lot more smoothly.
Primer makes a huge difference to the way foundation sits on the skin. It creates a canvas and ensures the makeup stays in place. Unfortunately I break out with primers so am currently looking for silicone free.
Yes, primer makes a difference in how my foundation goes on and how long it stays/controls oil. Primers are not meant to prevent any clogging. In fact, if not removed, primers themselves can clog pores.
Primers are usually for keeping the foundation in place for long hours…well this is what I’ve heard. Aren’t they supposed to be applied on top of your moisturiser?
Theoretically yes. Since the primer’s purpose is to control shine/oil and give a smooth base for the foundation, it makes sense to apply that right before the foundation (and moisturizers, serum etc. under the primer). But if it doesn’t make any difference in the results, there is nothing wrong with applying moisturizer after primer either. I guess it all boils down to what works for the individual.
Agreed…some of my friends that have dry skin often mix the primer with their moisturizer just before applying it.
I’ve not tried it but it seems to work for them.
Never had to use moisturizer in my foundation routine because of how oily my skin used to be. At the time primer worked really well as the first product applied on the skin.
Since I have really dry skin now, I have to apply moisturizer at least an hour before I apply anything else otherwise foundation appears flaky. Still in the trial and error phase with foundation application on dry skin.
