i loved this drama...we even had the lights go out here in Tennessee so it really felt like we were watching a drama in Pakistan. but i just LOVE the dialogue, it is so naturally Karachi, i love it! just listening to it was a treat, very well written and the picture is high quality too (like behlawa) and doesn't look like it was filmed on a handycam!
It's a Mahreen Jabar play for crying out loud. What did you expect, two sorry love losers hanging around the beach expressing their love for eachother or the Indian films inspired over acting?
Mahreen is a genious. I remeber a play of her (forgot the name) which had Marina Khan, Sania Saeed and another lady and it was about women of different ages facing the society of men and searching for their role. That was marvelous.
As for Kahanian, kudos to Mahreen Jabar for providing a much needed air of freshness to our local media.

oh thank you, thank you, may the lord smile upon you from the 7th heaven.
I always pondered to myself that up until '95-96 our dramas were on the whole, thought provoking, educational, had little to no over acting and ofcourse no cheesiness factor. What happend then? it's obvious what happend, indian films happend.
Those films had no standerd to begin with but our people sure ruined their work by copying those numbnuts. But more then that, our audiences are to blame which preferred cheap dialougues, cheezy lines and over acting carried from indian films. Artists gave the audiences only what they demanded.
But thank god, it's finally comming to an end. The PTV dramas are again steering toward the the good ol' classy days of indegenious. Though, still there are plays like Dil Lagi, Chand Chehra, Ik Nai Mor Pe etc but once their duration is over, hopefully we wouldn't see more bull crap carried from indian films to our dramas.
** KAHANI NUMBER 2 **
What did you think of OF EPISODE 2?
I think at the end they left the viewers thinking if she (nadia jamil )had always been blind or she acted to be blind so she can know which one would be still interested in her..... what do u think?
At first I really thought she was a flirtatious lady.........
sania played the role well, yasir was hateable for dumping her....
hamayun usual self....
compared to the first kahani, this was not as good......but i still enjoyed it! it gave the real pakistani lahore type feeling!
Views?
exactly, I think she acted to see which one of the three guys would be interested in her. But then again she might really be blind for real. After all we never saw her making an eye contact with anyone of the guys, even when andey-wala came to her house she stayed behind the door, she also refused to read news paper.
As for performence, again man superb. Mahreen executed the whole episode in such an ingenious way that I applaud her talent.
Playing Noor Jahan’s punjabi songs in the background in an urdu speaking region was IMO sending out a message of national unity.
I also really loved the way Yasir Nawaz yelled out “DABROTI-AAANDEYYY” ![]()
and also the theme music has really unique beat to it. Makes me move my hands and shoulders in rhythm.
Well the second episode wasn't as good as the first...but it was good none the less. A good drama so far, with all the right indgridients. God acting by Yasir Nawaz and the rest of the cast. Can't wait till the next episode! :D
Watched "KahaniyaaN: Dabbu". Really enjoyed it. I love the camera being used in filming these stories. Dialogues were great too. Almost gave the feeling of watching an art movie. Great Work.
I think the girl was truly blind. She asks her mother that she (the mother) doesn't read newspapers so who will read the newspaper.
Today Kahaniyan was aired instead of Landa Bazaar (i think LB is over). Anways, this episode "Girrah" was about a writer (sania) who has to write a murder based story. Thus, so she does and another storyline of Humanyun and his unfaithful wife Nadia starts rolling. At the end it's made cleared that humuanyun and nadia were sania's parents and that storyline was her mind's fagment.
It was mysterious and dark and literly speaking really dark, not much lighting was used. It was a good episode but not as good as Dabbu.
The epsidoe “Girrah” was really nice. I actually liked it better than Dabbu. I think it was really well made, and yeah it sure was dark, which made it more compatibale with the theme of the episode. Very good Drama so far :k: ![]()
Thankgod I was able to see it.
I tell ya, Prime TV really pisses me off. They change sceduales for the Drama's all the time. Show anything, whenever they feel like it. What's the point of having a sceduale then?
For example, they were showing a repeat of Shaid Kay Bahar Aaye on Monday Evening at 6:45pm CST, then on Tuesday at 10:10pm CST they show the new episode of it! Geez.. hadh hoti hai!
Oh right.. back to the drama. I liked this one too. It was dark because she was told to write a murder story. It had to be a scary environment, etc. I still think, Dabbu was better, but still Girrah deserves praise.

i'm in USA, so ofcource it was aired in america, dunno about U.K.
But they might do a re run of this episode on saturday.
Mehreen Jabbar is brilliant. From the story to the acting to the music to the camerawork, everything was just excellent. Even though the story was quite predictable and old, the drama was very well produced. The music deserves special praise.
If only Hamayun Saeed would avail the Golden Handshake scheme and retire....
^ Oh come on sambailian, i thought he did alright in this episode, and he looked different too with his lil frenchie. Give the guy a break, will ya.
Did you guys see the new episode of Kahaniyaan today? I think it was really good. I forgot the name of the episode, but it was about abortion and how Nadia Jamil’s husband abuses her.. Excellent episode and good acting by everyone. This drama is becoming one of my favorites
:k:

I'll have to request you to not attribute lies to Humayun's person, please. People who're close to him such as I know that Humayun is incapable of growing facial hair.
thank you for understanding.
Humanyun Saeed is the producer of this drama. How can he retire?
Episode/Kahani 4
** surpana, mary aur zubeida **
I have missed the kahani Girrah it wasn't shown this saturday hope they broadcast it sometime before they end
anyway......this episode was pretty good jus like yaasir has reviewed it...
Nadia Jamil played the role well......
Hamayun had a very little role of a police officer
Yasir and Sania......very small role to play as neighbours
then the guy who played nadia's husband was very good....he suited it dont know what his name is.......
I've enjoyed them all soooo far....but think the first two were better
