Price Points for Designers

I’m in the process of organizing wedding stuff and I’m hoping some more experienced guppies can help me out. Do any of you have price points for Umar Sayeed, Sana Safinaz, Karma, Ayesha Varsi, Nomi Ansari and similar designers? What prices do they start at? I want to get two bridal outfits within four or five thousand dollars and I read that Bunto starts at 2 lakhs so does that mean she would do a bad job if you pay her the bare minimum she works with?

Re: Price Points for Designers

Frankly speaking, I reckon you'll get more for you're money with outfits from either Karma, Nomi Ansari or Ayesha Varsey (who I personally wouldn't recommend, since she didn't have anything of interest - just the same old tired designs)

Umar Sayeed is much pricier and his decent bridal outfits start at around 3.5 - 4 lakhs. I would also put Sana Safinaz in the same price bracket.

Bunto more or less starts at around the 2 lakh marker, but I think she will give the best she can afford to give you in your budget. It would also be nice if you wore something traditional one day and something more contemporary on another?

thanks so much, ziggy!! thats great advice :)

Who would you recommend for a more contemporary look? I think Bunto is the best at traditional wear but I am drawing blanks for contemporary looks. I mentioned Sana Safinaz because I've heard of them but I just dont know what type of outfits she does, how would you describe them? I also havent seen a ton of Sana Safinaz outfits posted here in comparison to other designers.

Re: Price Points for Designers

fasaadi I’ve gotten some price points for Mohd Mehdi, here http://www.paklinks.com/gs/wedding/252929-bridal-pics-331.html#post6278278

They def have some contemporary designs. I also love Memoona Manan/Rouge, they have lots of modern looks. I was quoted around 500,000 for some of their more intricate work. I believe they do “lighter” versions for around 350,000. Of course, you must order well in advance!

Re: Price Points for Designers

^Do you have prices for any of their specific outfits?

I was quoted 500,000 for the following

I was told this was their general range for “heavier” stuff, although it does go higher. Lighter work started at 350,000. They are totally unresponsive via email/facebook though.

I assume it is best to call..? I’ve heard that they are not easy to work with either and require 6-9 months to prepare the piece.

Prices given to me by Rouge last summer:

Magenta Bridal : Rs 300,000 to 350,000 (depending on the width of the 3 other dupata borders)

Red Bridal : Rs 350,000 to 400,000

Watermelon Pink Bridal : Rs 550,000

Re: Price Points for Designers

Maria B's wedding outfits start from 1.2 lakh.

you're welcome Fasaadi :)

Sana Safinaz are definitely more contemporary and their outfits are really refined. The cuts and embellishment on their heavy bridal joras are really excuisite, but the work and the colours of their bridals are not as loud as some of the other designers. They also place a great emphasis on fitted outfits, like their 2 paincha ghararas where the gharara is narrowly fitted. They were also creating bridals out of long coats to go with ghararas, which seemed interesting and new.

I'll see if I can find you pics of some of their outfits tonight...

Yaay kapray hain kay in main heeray jaray hain jo itnay manhgay hain.

Wow at the clothes!

Wow at the prices!

:bobo:

Thanks again everyone! If you could Ziggy, that would be amazing... :) I haven't seen a single Sana Safinaz outfit posted here before!

That first Rouge one is one of my favs!

Re: Price Points for Designers

Gina, out of all the Rouge outfits i've seen it's my fav as well AND costs less than the others!

Re: Price Points for Designers

Are these fixed prices or can one 'reason' with the designer?

Gina- Have you decided what to wear to your wedding?

Re: Price Points for Designers

^ don't even bother bargaining with Rouge - Ill advised, I attempted to bargain with them and they just flipped!

Re: Price Points for Designers

Have you had any experience with any designers who are open to negotiation or is it pretty much fixed?

Mohd Mehdi is receptive to a little bargaining. Rouge, as mentioned previously, is not.

I am also eager to see Sana Safinaz's work..

Re: Price Points for Designers

From my own experience, I never had any luck bargaining with Rouge or Faiza Samee. Bunto Kazmi and Nomi Ansari were ok with small concsessions (ie no charges for full sleeves or additional work on the outfit), but Nickie and Nina were the best by far!

Karma would claim to give me a concession, but I noticed they would sneakily reduce the work somewhere, like the duppata for example.

Re: Price Points for Designers

Nickie Nina, HSY, House of AM, Maria B will give you discounts.
