Re: price of wedding dress

depends..you can fitthis budget VERY easily if you dont go to designers !

Re: price of wedding dress

i think mine was about $1000 -- which i hear is not very much for a wedding dress. but it was designed from scratch by my MIL and the boutique owner.

Re: price of wedding dress

yes you can definitely get a decent dress for that much, as long as it isnt designer natch, you have to know how to bargain though to get a good deal

Re: price of wedding dress

mine cost about 1 lak. it all depends on the designe and the designer

Re: price of wedding dress

I can't imagine ever spending 1 lakh on an outfit.
No matter how much money I have at my disposal.
I'd rather get 4 outfits at 25,000 each.

2 years ago I purchased 3 very heavy, bridal lehngay in Karachi. They vendors all started asking prices in the range of 35,000 - 65,000 and ultimately I purchased them for 18,000 - 25,000.

Re: price of wedding dress

ive seen teh most drop-dead gorgeous lenghas in Anarkali for 30-45,000 RS… absolutely beautiful.. :hinna:

Re: price of wedding dress

^ exactly!
and if you are good at negotiating the price, you can have them for less than 20,000!

Re: price of wedding dress

yup we gt d most amazin lenghas made from the ali zaree house for 30,000 - 35,000 for my sister

Re: price of wedding dress

Thank heaven for bargaining! I got a beautiful sari from Lahore that was quoted to me for 14,000 and my MIL got it for 8... i got two very heavy outfits, when I'd gone by myself (w/ husband) the guy told us one outfit for 16, 18,000 etc.. when I took my MIL she got them to just 5 each!

Re: price of wedding dress

I can totally relate and agree...bargaining is the key!!

40000 is a decent amount for a jora and I won't spend more than that on a jora that I might never wear again!!

Re: price of wedding dress

@ Sara516:

Yea....my cousin was in Anarkali when she spotted a Lehnga for Rs. 1.25 lakh...She really liked it and bargained until the guy came down to the "real" price...She ended up buying it for Rs. 24,000...That's 1.1 lakh less than the price he quoted at beginning.

Remember, bargaining is the key like Shah1979 mentioned. If you don't know your stuff and if you don't compare the prices of lehngas at other places before making your decision and just stick with one place, chances are that you'll end up paying much more than the price you should pay.

Re: price of wedding dress

OMG I can't beieve this..apki cuzin ko to bargaining ka international award milna chahiyeye!!
1.1 lakh is real big!! meiney to most Rs. 20,000 kam karwaye they and was thinking of myself as the bargaining queen!! Guess not...huh?

Re: price of wedding dress

Hehe I was surprised at first too but then again, its business. I have worked for someone in this field so I know (atleast a little bit if not as much as you Guppans :p) how the game works :-D

Re: price of wedding dress

HHL sorry I don't buy it :p

Re: price of wedding dress

You don't have to :-)

It would be natural for anyone to feel as I am not telling the truth but that's how it is (and this was back in like Oct 2005)...I know my condition better than you and Allah knows my condition better than myself :-)

When I was working in the field here in Chicago, we used to order Wedding Lehngas for like $300 and sell it for over $1000. Nothing wrong with this price if you don't know the prices at other places.

Re: price of wedding dress

That's believable, to buy it for $300 USD from Pakistan and then sell it for $1000 here...

But no retailer in Pakistan will ever give a 1.1 Lakh discount to anyone, no matter how good they are at bargaining.

Re: price of wedding dress

Trust me lol...the guy first reduced the price to like 60 some thousand and then when my cousin was about to walk out, he further reduced it by like few more thousand. My cousin eventually left the store and went back after few days when he came in the 30s and stayed there. She finally convinced him to reduce it a little more when the guy's father was at the store also and she ended up paying 24 thousand and some hundred.
