Re: pressure cooker
I have this Tefal pressure cooker and I have to say it’s magic!
It’s my favourite kitchen ’ utensil’
It’s pricier than the rest of the cookers but imo worth it!
Re: pressure cooker
i have this one also…it works great.
Re: pressure cooker
there is a possibilty. you have to be careful when using it.
Re: pressure cooker
tefal or fissler?
what is the difference?
Re: pressure cooker
PCG -- it pretty much cooks everything much faster. It's particularly useful for making meat tender quickly. But really anything can be made in it.
I rarely use mine, but would love some tips. I'm still afraid of all the madness that occurs as it cooks :D

Arent the new ones like Tefal n Fissler safer ?
Re: pressure cooker
^Yah. But I'm still nervous. Only used it with Mom and MIL.
Re: pressure cooker
You know what, they are good
Like i can cook meat/daal in fifteen to ten minutes
but last time I tried to make haleem with National Masala n you know how its got the daal in powder
the powder got stuck to the deeghchi and burnt bad
:(
Are there any nonstick Pressure cookers?
Re: pressure cooker
LK, I never make haleem in cooker as it ALLWAYS gets stuck or burned at the bottom, so I cook the meat in the cooker so that the meat is tender and it just falls off the bones easily, the daal and wheat I cook in normal pot, just soak them few hours before.
Re: pressure cooker
Calculus is easier than this cooking business. I still don't get it. You use it like a regular saucepan or something? Doesn't it alter the taste of food?
Re: pressure cooker
^ no
What it does is trap the steam inside the Pot
so its air tight with just a tiny outlet for the steam to go out.
So basically the temperature of steam is higher than water.
It takes it less time for the meat to tenderize
Re: pressure cooker
When I was a kid, our cooker exploded, the lid flew across the kitchen and put a big dent in the refrigerator. Mum was making tomato soup and the ceiling was covered with pieces of tomato and garlic and whatnot. Alhumdulillah no one was hurt, but I had just been about to go into the kitchen. The cooker was distorted and had to be thrown away. It took me a long time to get over my fear of the cooker, but the convenience it afforded outweighed my fears. I learned to watch the safety valve and make sure it's working fine, and then you've nothing to worry about.
Re: pressure cooker
Tomatoes have very tough skin, if the pot is filled to the lid a piece of tomatoe skin could have blocked the relief valve, Ka-Boom!
Re: pressure cooker
Ha, I'm scratching this pot off my list!
