Important decisions expected to be announced. The address will follow a “crucial” meeting of the National Security Council on the same day. Gen. Musharraf announced this while speaking at National Defence University. He also said that if media promised not to show dead bodies, the govt. will take action against Lal Masjid.

I wonder what he is up to. Probably some announcement regarding govt. steps to contain “creeping Talibanisation” or uniform?
Musharraf terms media as country’s first defence line
ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf has said that media is the first defence line of the country and resentments of the past must be ended for better future.
Addressing an executive session of media workshop in National Defence University here on Friday, Musharraf said that media and government should work together. He has firm believe on media freedom and would provide complete protection to the media.
Musharraf praised the positive role of media after devastating earthquake in 2005 but said that during judicial crisis from last three months, media played a negative role. Media should keep in view national interests, he added.
President said that he would make some important announcements in his address to the nation next week.
About objections raised by some political parties on electoral lists, Musharraf said that these political parties should fulfill their desire of boycotting the elections.
Imam-i-Kaaba was invited to resolve the Lal Masjid issue with mutual consent and now dialogue would be made with them through Allah.
I dont think he will be taking back the reference. I think he's going to go through with it, even if SC restores the CJ. I personally think the address will be more of a lecture to the masses to vote for the moderate forces and a run down on the consequences of voting for obstructionist forces, illustrated aptly by adventures of Lal brigade. Shrewd man that he is, I expect him to send feelers that he has no problem with CJ and will be the first to welcome him back if he is restored. I think he will also take the opportunity to point out the achievements of rule and lampoon the opposition, especially the right wingers.
oh yes..and a word or two for media. How it should keep national interest in mind etc.
So finally he's back on the scene. He was first scheduled to address the nation the day those affidavits from his staff were filed. I agree his silence or rather absence was getting eerie.
I dont think he'll do anything abt the reference, he's been clear abt it that the courts will work on it and he has no issues. That says this much that he does accept that it was a blunder and it must settle, not at the cost of this govt, but settle it must. He wont be dissolving the assemblies. The assemblies and this govt is going to be a record in completing the term, they'll save it till the last breath. As for Wardi, he could shed light on it and express his intentions, but I don think he'd announce any decision Monday.
With great advisors like wasi zafar and kasuri i do not expect anything sensible from the dictator. I also doubt that he will announce that he will shed his skin off, he is enjoying the priviliges of power so much that just like his predecessors he will stick on to power as long as he can. He will continue to support Altaf and his goons in karachi and will make deals with more corrupt politicians from any party as long as his presidency survives. Pakistan's interest is not even in his list of preferences. I am however, alarmed at the strategic fire in the parliament house which burnt all the documentary records of corruption in steel mills, cement, sugar mills and stock market means that ruling class is now preparing for a forced exit soon inshallah. They will make Zardari proud by their saaviness in corruption and fraud.
He wont be dissolving the assemblies. The assemblies and this govt is going to be a record in completing the term, they'll save it till the last breath. .
Actually Haris this is the second Military led assembly to complete its term, Ayub Khan's assembly did much the same and his party the Convention Muslim League successfully won two elections.
