PAKISTAN: MUSHARAF TO UNVEIL TERRORIST ‘THREATS’ NATION FACES
Islamabad, 29 June (AKI) - (Syed Saleem Shahzad) - Pakistan’s president Gen Pervez Musharraf has called for a major mechanism to counter terrorism in his country, “as there are people sitting on Pakistani soil who are aiming to attack Western countries.” Speaking on Friday at the conclusion of a workshop at National Defense University in Islamabad, Musharraf said:** "We have important meeting at the National Security Council on Monday after which I shall address the nation and pinpoint the threats [it faces]… and also disclose the counter terrorism strategy”** . He also said that he would consult political leaders from across the political spectrum. The chief Minister of North West Frontier Province, who belongs to the opposition six religious party alliance (MMA) has said he would also be present at the president’s National Security Council meeting on Monday. Musharraf also urged the media to avoid playing up news stories which would be damaging to the national interest and argued that the current government encourages criticism of the executive. He pointed out that the media should differentiate between national interests and the government’s interest.

Important decisions expected to be announced. The address will follow a "crucial" meeting of the National Security Council on the same day. Gen. Musharraf announced this while speaking at National Defence University. He also said that if media promised not to show dead bodies, the govt. will take action against Lal Masjid.

I wonder what he is up to. Probably some announcement regarding govt. steps to contain "creeping Talibanisation" or uniform?
So the action against Lal Masjid would consist of a extrajudicial massacre and executions without being apprehended and brought to trial...

well thats a positive step. i think the opposition parties r as much to blame for govt's lack of action as the govt. itself. The opposition blames the govt. for an ambiguous policy on Lal Masjid yet their own stance in case of a govt. action is unknown. This "fear of the unknown "is stopping the govt. from taking action.

Don't they themselves realise that how boring and stupid they look.. after all even after 8 years you have to say the same old things than the question is wot you really have done in this long tenure..

Laws dont apply to those who dont follow laws...& if lal masjid mullahs want to created state with in state, which what they're doing, than what do you expect? Its long over due.

He will probably tell the nation that Pakistan faces grave threats both internal and external like the lal masjid issue which he has conveniently let fester and than tell the nation that only he can save them from doom. 
Don’t hold your breath nothing of substance will come out of his speech.

The address was supposed to come up after NSC meeting but that was delayed due to the floods. So the address is delayed too. :)
