Re: Pregnant lady comes to U.S only to have her child born here?
But kids will still get the citizenship, though they will have to leave because of their parent's deportation.
^yep.....
if parents are thinking about their child's future then ok I can understand that but if they are coming here thinking that they will get to stay right now....they need to think again.

YOU ESS A!!!!
YOU ESS A!!!! :p
Personally, i think doing that is wrong because you're setting a corrupt foundation for your child to growup. What pride is he gonna grow up with? You want him to be a citizen, then you do it the right way. Atleast halfway right, send him here for education and then he could get married off to some citizen. Alotta ppl do that.
But to come and give birth on American soil, is almost like 'I'm your guest, gimme room to stand and i'll make space to sit myself'
Re: Pregnant lady comes to U.S only to have her child born here?
So long and short of this is that Angel Eyes' earlier post incorrectly gave the impression that kids born in the US were applying for green card, and that was denied. We all questioned that, since kids born in the US are automatically entitled to US citizenship. Angel Eyes' has since corrected his/her story to say that it was not the kids that were being denied US citizenship, but that it was the parents could not get automatic green card based on their kids' citizenship (I am assuming kids are under 18).
This is something everyone knows (or should know). While babies born in the US get US citizenship, their non-US citizen parents can only be sponsored by the child once the child is at least 18 years old. And even then, the parents will have to follow the same procedures and wait times that other similar family sponsorship categories have to go through. In the meantime, parents can stay in the US through other legal means (visit/student/work visas, greencard obtained through employer or some other family sponsor etc).
Kids, who are US citizen, by being born in the US have all the rights of a US citizen (including right to vote when they have achieved voting age), but if their parents have to be deported (due to whatever reason), the kids can either go with their parents (kids will still be US citizens); or the parents can leave the kids in the US, and US will take care of them (through Child Services in each state). Not an appetizing thought, of course, but if someone intends to make this case to US immigration services that a US citizen baby must be allowed to have the non-citizen parent stay with them in the United States; expect to get this answer i.e. US will take care of its citizens.

It's not moral in my opinion.
well my frnd told me about this guy who born here, then his parents moved back so he got his early education in pakistan but then they sent him here alone .
well the thing is people who can afford to go back and forth actually come here back and forth. their live style is also not less goraz. in other words "burgers"
and this guy i am talking about he works in bars, drinks, smokes but then he also used to do same stuff in Pakistan too. so morailty plays very lil there
but there is another example that is of my aunt whose oldest son is brit but then her 3 others are not. so they may lead to tensions within the family. jealousy
so i agree with you here.
if parents dont have any plans to live in these countries than they also not give emergence to hybridized personalities in the name of bright future.
or they better hide it from their children about dual citizenship so they dont take everything for granted and focus on their studies rather than day dreaming of CEO (and end up working in bars)
Re: Pregnant lady comes to U.S only to have her child born here?
More than likely parents will take their US-citizen baby back to their motherland. So the benefit is that the child gets a US passport, and when he (or she) is old enough, it makes travelling around the world easiier. Also it helps that child to come to the US for further education later on. Doesn't mean the child MUST come to the US, however, it provides another option. And later if the child wants to be a Pakistani citizen (for whatever reason) it can easily be done since the parents are Pakistani. So, essentially, other than health risk of a heavily pregnant lady travelling such a long flight, and the fact that likely close family will not be present when the child is born; there are very few downsides.
Re: Pregnant lady comes to U.S only to have her child born here?
US is still one of the few developed countries, which grants its citizenship just by being born here. I don't think (in fact I am fairly certain) UK doesn't automatically grant citizenship to babies born there. Not sure about Canada or other parts of Europe.
As far as I know, the US is the only developed country that grants citizenship just by beeing born there. The UK used to have a similar situation as well, but they stopped granting that in the 80s. Apart from that, I don't think any first-world country does that.

I had also heard back in the 70's and 80's if a child was born on an AIRPLANE during FLIGHT..............He/She could claim citizenship of any country in the World.........don't know if that is true now or not!
Re: Pregnant lady comes to U.S only to have her child born here?
SindSagar bhai saab... you hear some really fantastic things. First it was that a child born in the US has to wait till age 18 to become a US citizen. Now you have heard that in 70's and 80's, a child born on an airplane could get citizenship of any country in the world. Where will it end, sir ji... where will these hoaxes end???
