I had getational diabetis. But all I had to do wa swatch my diet (they sent me to a nutritionist) and get my blood drawn once a week. later on there were the NST tests every week. I was borderline too, so I guess that's why I didn't need insulin and check my blood multiple times a day. I have herad people get negative on the 3 hour test and if that happens you are safe.
Ira- i asked my midwife to tell me the heart rate n she said it is no longer allowed as many ppl have strtd sueing midwives n sonographers n other proffesionals for predicting wrong:smack:, due to this many hospitals have actually stopped telling the gender n if ur really despo to know then u gotta pay about a hundred pounds for it:rolleyes:
with my first my midwife even told me how my bby was laying like he was positioned with his hand on his face n his back was on my left side n so-on n thats how he was born with his hand on his lil face as if he was posing…
If you get a CVS or amniocentesis done, you can find out the gender for sure. Ultrasounds can be unreliable because they try to see whether or not there is a penis. And depending on the position of the baby, sometimes a part of the cord or part of a limb can look kind of like a penis when its not. Or the little thing is hiding so it looks like it isnt there but its just that you cannot see it. So an ultrasound tech can tell you without fear of a lawsuit that "it LOOKS like it MIGHT be a boy/girl" and then explain why they think so...but without DNA proof from one of those tests, you may very well get a surprise on delivery day!
Enjoy - boy or girl, its the most joyous event of your life!
Saadia, yes be persistent with your docs....thats the best thing to do. In the meantime, try not to worry...the medicine for bladder infection should clear up the pain in your side - thats where your kidney is and its probably suffering from the infection too. And the medicine also can cause GI upset, bloating, constipation, gas. Those things COULD explain your troubles but like Ruby said, keep on being persistent with your docs to make sure.
Hope you feel better soon!
Man I hate medicine, I payed 30 Euros to get a ultrasound done and to find out I am no way pregnant, but the swelling of my tummy (gone back some bit) and some movements inside are still there. For now I am just igorning it!!!
since the last 2 days i have been getting pain, sharp but mild pains on the right side of abdomen. lasts a couple of seconds and disappears. is taht normal. ive looked it up and it says its probably round ligament pain. did anyone else get this. im 14 weeks tomorrow
I thought round ligament pain was to be in the groin area and not the abdomen?
Red Ruby, i didnt realise pregnancy entails all sorts of pains and aches :D And most all of them fall under the cateogary of "normal". The answer tahts given to me for my aches is that they things are looseing up for delivery, due to a hormone called relaxin and that can generate some pains. Its good to ask at your next OB visit just to be sure though.
it is ira… i just looked it up.. until now i didnt know what it was called and was trying to just look up things according to symptoms.. but i looked up round ligament pain and its exactly what i feel… so thank you for nothing midwife and hospital :slap: im gonna go in next week for my appt at the doc and say, oh i know waht is wrong with me, thank you for making me wait for a week and half though.. it gave me time to play doctor myself.. :double slap:
lol khawa, since the first preg, hubs and i are total experts in what to expect and what not to. We are google experts and this time around, didnt have to search for info a lot since we went on overload teh last time This time we were so chilled about everything.
I also frequent another mesg board with a lot of trying to concieve or pregnant ppl so i learn a lot from there as well.
hmmm i only get the pains in the abdomen. mother in law came over yesterday and i told her and she said that the baby is lower down yet and its all strectin inside so all these pains are expected. then what she said got me worried....
she said it means the baby is low and that will cause u problems later on and u need to massage across ur abdomen so the baby pushes up ehhh. i siad well im quite early so obvioulsy its going tobe there yet plus in the books it says that month by month it will get higher. it completley baffled me. husband tried massagin me and i was like dont worry the theory is silly. poor bloke got really worried. i cudnt stop laughin
Yaar i had similiar pains towhat you are describing Red Ruby at around the same time. And my midwife said it will go away once the baby moves up. When the baby gets bigger, it doesnt have anywhere to go but up. Once that happened, i was fine. So i dont think you need to worry about the baby's position just yet.
Guys, is anyone else going through sleep troubles? I shouldnt call it insomnia but i am just being different and wierd. I have had no trouble throughout this preg in terms of sleeping. And all of a sudden, i start waking up at night for bathroom trips and cant go back to sleep. So i try to sleep during the day, sometimes cant, and am grouchy and just plain miserable. For the past 2 days or so, i dont feel sleepy even at night :( Usually my husband is trying to keep me awake to a decent hour.
IS this hormonal and part of the package as well? :( ANy tips on how to fix this?
I cant wait till school is over in a month and i can wake up and sleep whenever i want to.
i have no trouble falling asleep.. but if i do get up to pee.. then i cna stay awake for a good half hour afterwards trying to fall asleep but its not so easy.. then in school im brain dead...
like they say for everything else.. its NORMAL :D
maybe you can try to not drink anything an hour before u go to bed so u dont havta pe`?
i cant even do that cuz i live in a ultra dry country and not drinking water after peeing can give u a painful UTI :D
ab tho yeh dil chahtha hai ke charpai washroom ke agay hi daal du mein...
khawa, my usual wake up time is at 3am and then i am wide awake. Please tell me thats not normal :S I try to do the not drinking water before bed time thing but am so thirsty that its uncomfy trying to fall asleep. Hubby says he should get a toilet built in our bedroom. He hasnt started work on it yet though, he is just all talks
i think its all normal… my wake up time is also 3 and then 6 hehe.. the funny thing is.. after the 3 am emptying… i only take a sip or 2 and go back to bed.. yet at 6 i have a full bladder again… so i dont think its so much liquid as baby just pushing on ure bladder..
khawateen the same thing happens to me too..:D...i really hate going to washroom again and again ...and its so annyoing when u hve to jump out of bed and run for a pee..:D
