Re: pregnancy signs
^ When you become pregnant, your body produces higher levels of estrogen and progesterone, the workhorses that help make your pregnancy possible. These hormones prepare your breasts for nursing – and they can also make them sore and sensitive, just as they are around your period.
oh god no!!! lol I do get my period but like a week late, two weeks late. Kinda like that. Never on the same date. Very rarely do i miss a month
That just means you've got long cycles, not irregular ones.
Re: pregnancy signs
miami, its always helpful to mark day one of your periods on a calendar somewhere. use google calendar or the one on your iPhone or something. it'll help chart your cycles and when you do try to get pregnant, you'll be able to better predict your fertile days too.
Re: pregnancy signs
and it's a good natural way of contraception. rhythm method.
Re: pregnancy signs
^ Yes, tho unreliable.
a few days late, and I just had a feeling.
Whenever I had been late, I'd make a mental note to buy a hpt. almost immediately i would end up not needing it.
You are expecting :) congrats
the first one is not a myth. your period happens when your uterine lining breaks down. if you don't have a regular period, your uterine lining hasn't built up, so therefore there's nothing for your fertilized egg to implant itself into.
the pills one, though, is a myth.
also, congratulations! :)
we've got a GS baby boom on the go!
I don't know. You are most of the time more knowledgeble than me, I know that for sure. But then again I know a couple of ladies personally who had this irregular period thing. Interval was no more than 6 months though. Four girls I know conceived & two of them were not even trying. Irregular periods account for 30-40 % of infertility rate among women. That leaves prospective mothers with hopes of 60-70%.
I just find it weird that a lot of time young Desi girls even before getting married worry about this whole being not able to conceive thing & I find it annoying that based on one or two cases our mothers/aunts put this fear into us.
I have some extra fat around my abdominal part & my mom & this desi co worker told me about how I should worry about losing weight & all, not so I could look good on my wedding but oh what if I am not able to conceive. I mean what the heck.....
Anyways thanks for the wishes SGC :) Its kinda nice to know that we have some expectant mothers on GS at the moment.Congrats to all the ladies.
Re: pregnancy signs
^ I think it's the pressure they have because they're told that the whole purpose of their lives is to get married and have kids. That they have little else important to offer. Even in an educated and open-minded family like mine, I felt that way often.
Same here. My mom is a fairly educated woman. Yet she told me all that. I still remember my teen years with all that cramping when she wouldn't let me take any medication (warm milk with turmeric only) saying its gonna help me prepare for labor pains later in my life. My doctor once told me there is nothing that can prepare you for that. When I confronted her & yes I did she was like I don't know that's how our mothers have been doing it & that's how we did it.
Re: pregnancy signs
My mom wouldnt let me take any pain killers either when i first started my periods and i had super painful cramps! It was just thats how she was told.
And abt the irregular cycle thing, i have them too and we still concieved, the first time within a month and the second time it took 6 months, ALhamd. Irregular cycles isnt a bad thing, it just means you have long ones, more than 30 days. Mine were regularly 40 days or so but i grew up thinking there was something wrong with me. It wasnt until i got married and read books like Taking Charge of Your Fertility that i realised i was perfectly normal.
Re: pregnancy signs
Funny enough, after I got married, my period was always a week or two late.
and period pains are nowhere near as bad as labor. I miscarried, naturally, and it was extremely painful....the dr said that pain is similar to childbirth. Though I hope no one has to experience it firsthand.
Re: pregnancy signs
Sara, since i had had a m/c naturally too and it was super painful but my labor was a different kinda painful and quite a bit more intense.
Ira what did you do for the labor pains? I plan to start reading Surah Maryam soon & will also ask my sil to send me "Maryam kay phool" . I also plan on taking some prenatal classes. I have to choose which ones though. But besides that any other duas?
I haven't been thinking about the labor pain at all but since you guys mentioned wouldn't mind some tips that can make it a little easier.

BInt-e-Naeem, i honestly didnt read any duas for labor. What i did do was read astaghfar a lot and it just came naturally to my lips. I had heard that InshaAllah Allah will accept whatever dua you make during labor so that was my dua along with others i had in mind for my friends and family. I also walked a lot, didnt really stay in bed or anything, i think that helped because laying in bed only made them worse for me. And the whirlpool tub was HEAVENLY! Try that if they have it where you are going to deliver.
Sahar, i didnt mean to scare you, honestly. If i can do it, anyone can!

i'm sorry for your loss, sara, and yours too, ira :/
