Would you buy (and ofcourse wear) ready-made maternity clothes? Are they even available? Is it better to get loosly fitted clothes stitched or to borrow them from someone or to buy clothes several sizes larger…
Re: maternity wear
Snickers it's better to buy maternity clothes rather than several sizes larger cloths because maternity clothes are looser from the belly and waist area. I did the same thing and bought some x large shirts but I could only wear them until about the fifthe sixth months of pregnancy then I had to buy more shirt from the maternity section. Sometimes these clothes come with belts so you can wear them throughout the pregnancy by adjusting the belt (both for pants and shirts). It's also a good idea to get them stitched by someone because I found out that maternity clothes cost a lot and you have to keep buying bigger sizes every couple of months. I don't know where you live but some places that carry maternity wear are
JCPenny
Motherhood Maternity
Target
Walmart

Backache, tired legs, stomach pain etc etc
… all common pregnancy complaints but very irritating! What do you do (or did) to defeat the mentioned complaints? I found out that hot tub baths are very benefiticial for tired legs and feet but what can be done to erase backaches ![]()
Re: Backache, tired legs, stomach pain etc etc
Some mothers go to special swimming classes for pregnant women. There's a massage therapist who will massage your back while you float around in the water. Apparently, it's a lot of fun, very relaxing and helps your back out a lot.
Re: Backache, tired legs, stomach pain etc etc
Ms Snickers, hang in there! Massage and heating pad can help with the back pain. The extreme weariness most of the time goes away shortly after the first trimester and returns later in the 3rd. You have to be really careful with baths once you're in the 3rd trimester because as the cervix starts to soften, you're much more prone to infection. Most docs will tell you NO BATHS at all in the 3rd trimester. I never tried Yoga but have heard nothing but rave reviews from preggies who go to yoga classes. Also the "birthing ball" ... its just a bouncing ball, almost waist high that you sit on, do light bouncing exercises etc., many "doulas" use a birthing ball during labor and it helps the pain immeasurably...then deflate it, save it for a year or two and you have a fascinating toy for your little one.
Hope this helps! Hang in there!

An introduction to breastfeeding
Your Breast Milk
While you were pregnant, your body was preparing a very special blend of nutrients to meet your baby’s needs. Colostrum (early breast milk) is the perfect starter food for him/her. This yellowish, creamy substance is found in the breasts during pregnancy and for a few days after delivery. Your colostrum provides all the nutrition your baby will need right after birth. It also provides important protection against bacteria and viruses. Colostrum also acts as natural laxative (something that makes it easier to have bowel movements) to help clear the meconium (the dark sticky stool that is made while the baby is in the uterus) from your baby’s intestines.
What Breast Milk is Made Of
Over the first few days after your baby is born, the amount of breast milk you make will increase. Breast milk is made of fats, sugars, proteins, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes and is designed to promote brain and body growth. Antibodies are also present in your breast milk, which help boost your baby’s ability to resist infection. There are many studies that show by feeding your baby only breast milk (no formula), he/she may be less likely to have certain medical problems. The medical problems that may be prevented by breast milk include: ear infections, other serious bacterial infections, diabetes, intestinal problems, and childhood cancer and food allergies. Breast-feeding reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or “crib death.” In addition, feeding your baby only breast milk may give his/her brain and visual development an extra boost. The activity of suckling at the breast helps your baby enhance the development of his/her oral muscles and facial bones, as well as speech development. In addition, as your baby grows older, your milk changes to meet his/her nutritional needs.

Breastfeeding is clearly much healthier for the baby and also benefits the mummy!
Re: Pregnancy (merged threads)
I tried to avoid maternity clothes as far into my two pregnancies as I could. I wore my regular clothes till I was about 6 months pregnant. Then I wore pants that had elastic waist like yoga pants. At 7-8 months I finally went online to old navy maternity or gap maternity and bought some maternity jeans and tops (on sale cheap). I only needed them for a few months so I certainly was not going to A Pea in the Pod for $265.00 jeans. The thing about maternity clothes is that you need them for such a short period of time. Well maybe the first couple postpartum months also you may need them too.
I just wanted to wear things that were comfortable, moved with me, stayed in place on my expanding belly and covered me properly. These days you can get ready made maternity pants with a variety of panels. Some extend over the belly and some are under. Jeans are also low rise and hip huggers in maternity. So you can dress like you normally would plus a big belly. I had some nice sweaters that were fitted and I loved to not hide my belly. I wasn't under a tent. I felt most comfortable in maternity clothes like jeans and a soft, snug sweater.
Checkup due…
On wednesday :insha: i’ll have my 2nd ultrasound scan checkup. I’m in my 5th month now. Im a bit exited… the doc said that she might be able 2 predict the sex of my little one
. She’ll check the baby’s organs to see if everything is alright.
Im thinking of making a list of questions 2 ask the doc… kya poochoon ![]()
Plz wish me luck and pray that my baby is alright and in perfect health.
Re: Checkup due...
Congratulations. This is an exciting time in your pregnancy. It's amazing when you really feel and see the baby moving around so much. I had a 3D sono and I couldn't believe it. I guess the things I most worried about during the anatomy scan were the baby's heart and spine. Inshallah everything will be fine.
Re: Checkup due...
All the best, good luck, you will enjoy it.
Re: Checkup due...
Good luck. Inshallah the check up will be alrite :) May ur baby be in good health, Ameen.
Re: Checkup due...
Ask to find out the baby's heartbeat. I taped it using a tape recorder. Its amazing.
Re: Checkup due…
Excelent idea.
I’ll keep that in mind for next time. ![]()
