Re: Pregnancy in Ramadan
The purpose of fasting in ramazan is not about inflicting suffering on us to please God. Unlike other religions (as they have been perceived), Islam is the 'dee-e-fitrat'. For instance, you can pray standing, sitting, laying on bed or just by nods as your physical condition suggests. I have seen in tv dramas, people go bare feet or crawl to worship places to please God by inflicting pain and suffering on them. Concept of praying and pleasing God is completely different in Islam. Fasting is about self-control and not about hurting yourself. It is not recommended for travellers and patients for obvious reasons. Allah loves us much more than a mother loves her child and He knows what you are going through. You are not only responsible for your own health but also the health of the unborn child so it is not advided to jeopardise his/her health/life. There are so many things you can do i.e., pray, recite and understand the holy Quran, help the needy monetarily or else etc.
