Praising the military

Re: Praising the military

On this forum, yes!

Look around, Rs 900 billion rupee scam was unearthed in energy sector, and the main thread barely got three replies. You open a thread on military, every Tom, Dick and Harry pours his heart out with moral outrage.

Imran's over the top opposition to electoral rigging only raised more awareness about true democracy, electoral processes, power of vote and put some service delivery pressure on ECP. He didn't become Prime Minister, but today your young generation is lot more aware of democracy than ever before, and for the first time in history, it is the a civilian government which pushed for Local Government elections in province.

So honestly, if sitting there and wailing about boogeymen in GHQ strengthened democracy, likes of Benezir would have achieved that in 80s, 90s. You ultimately need to fix your civilian institutions to strengthen democracy.

It is about your start holding civilian institution accountable and put pressure on then so they start delivering.

Re: Praising the military

How many people here consider, honourable retired judge Justice R. S Khawaja a "bloody civilian". Okay I know most of you do.

Listen to his farewell speech, and reflect on the part where he says Pakistan judiciary got destroyed by judges and lawyers.

Now he's the judge who did not take oath under Musharraf and voted against military courts, so think about what he had said before calling him a GHQ stooge for confirming that Pakistan's Justice System had failed the nation, and it got destroyed by its own employees.

Poor sampling and selective memory leads to biased results.
