awam holds government accountable? What accountable?
Habib Jalib rightly wrote … Pakistan is a nation of 10 crore Gadhay (there were 10 crore gadhay when he wrote the poetry, now there are 17 crore). Have you ever heard that Gadhay taking account of their masters who put all the ‘bojha’ on their back and enjoy sunshine? :halo:
Did Habib Jalib love Saudi Arabia’s kingdom? or Cuba’s style? or was it Saddam’s style that he loved? ![]()

Re: PPP proposes zardari as president.
Zardari has said that he will announce his decision in the next 1-2 days. (Sherry said 24 hours)
Getting rid of Musharaff and making Zardari the President is sort of Aasmaan se geere, khajoor me tapke for Pakistanis...no ?
Great Zardari to stand as Presidential candidate. This is excellent news. But why does PML (N) want to strip the Presidency of its power?
Bhutto’s widower Zardari to stand for president
Bhutto’s widower Zardari to stand for president
Published: Saturday, August 23, 2008
ISLAMABAD – Assassinated former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s widower will be a presidential candidate, an official of his party said on Saturday, a move that will be controversial if the presidency retains strong powers.
Who will replace Pervez Musharraf, who resigned as president last Monday and whose strongman rule was unpopular with most Pakistanis, is one of a number of issues preoccupying ruling coalition parties as economic and security problems mount.
The Pakistan People’s Party, which Asif Ali Zardari leads, said on Friday it wanted him to run in the election for president, by legislators, on Sept. 6.
“Zardari has accepted the Pakistan People’s Party’s unanimous drafting of him and he will be the candidate of the Pakistan People’s Party,” senior party official Mian Raza Rabbani told a news conference.
No other candidate has declared an intention to stand.
The leader of Pakistan’s second biggest party, which is in an uneasy coalition with Zardari, declined earlier to comment on Zardari’s expected nomination but said the post should be stripped of powers, in particular that to dismiss parliament.
The coalition government led by Bhutto’s party has been riven by a dispute over the judiciary with the number two party, led by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, threatening to pull out.
Re: PPP proposes zardari as president.
Aasmaan se gira, khajoor me atka, wali baat to hay.
ppp nay pehlay konsay achay kaam kiay hain ,rahty sahty kasar ab nikal day gee.har bar mulak ko daboya hi hay, muqadar say koi pansa seedha parr gaya to pp ki wah wah ho gaee.
16 karor awam(DHAGHAY,baloch, sindhi panjabi pathan's)ko 16 hazar nay mil kar baywaqoof banaya hua hay.Pehlay in 16 hazar logoon ka ilaj to koi karay agar yeh theek ho gaay to sab theek ho jaay ga,warna yeh zardaree jo bhe hay gaddaree karayga aur baad main poori qoom peh KHARKAREE karayga.
KISI BHI SOORAT MAIN YEH BAYIMAN SHAKHAS SADAR BANANAY KAY LIQE NAHEEN.
So... Zardari strikes:
Another His Highness to be throned. You can see N League's prompt reaction by taking back the deadline of wednesday and replacing it with Monday; which is absolutely impossible. Ofcourse there couldnt have been a better protest. On the other hand, with Zardari's assent to stand in the candidature for presedency its almost done that *he is the presedent of Pakistan *now. So this is why he wanted pakistan khappay, so that he could loot the remains of it. With whats happenin gin the northern areas and PPP's cold stance on Judiciary reinstatement, I do not see any positive thing coming up. Darn.
Re: PPP proposes zardari as president.
Yaar...don't blame the leaders :D ...please blame the voters...lol
sadr-e-Islami jamuria-e-Pakistan Janaab Asif Ali (Dus feesad) Zardari bhutto
I do not know why Ganja is making so much fuss when he has no worth? I do not know why Nawaz keep promising and try to show his importance when he could not deliver as he is worthless junk? I think that Nawaz would never leave Zardari however hard Zardari would try, treat him like a dog, and keep humiliating him. To get rid of Nawaz, Zardari has to throw him out bluntly, as this junk Nawaz and his greedy thugs do not understand the language of humiliation. Nawaz knows that if he would leave Zardari, he would lose government in Punjab and would become thrash (what he actually is).
Zardari might be corrupt but has strong and devious character. He is a far sighted and intelligent leader who knows greedy worthless pathetic character of Nawaz and how Nawaz deserve to get treated. Zardari also wants to take revenge from Nawaz for all what Nawaz did to him. I believe that Zardari intentionally gave government of Punjab to Nawaz as Laddu, so that he can keep humiliating Nawaz and keep making him lick his Arse.

Sa1eem, this govt is not going to survive for long, specially now that Musharraf has left. Whenever new elections take place, there is very little chances that Zardari's PPP will ever win like this. Nawaz has very good chances of being the next ruling party in the next elections. Specially due to his stance on the chief Justice issue, nawaz shariff is gaining alot of popularity, and if he plays his cards well, he can use this popularity to win the next elections, that are not that far away. But he will need to make some vital coalition to do that.
And lastly, it seems like Zardari being corrupt is not a big issue for you, but for a country like Pakistan where economy is in such bad shape, it is very important. I supported Musharraf while he was president in most of the issues. But now with him gone, nawaz might be much better option than the corrupt Zardari.

Why you think that this government is not going to last for 5 years? Who is going to dissolve the government? I do not think that PML-Q would like to get this government dissolved.
As for Nawaz gaining lot of popularity than where? In Northern Punjab? :)
How can you say that Zardari corruption is not a big issue for me? Obviously it is, though Nawaz is bigger corrupt than Zardari and between them, Nawaz is more harmful to the country than Zardari. Both have different method of doing corruption and what Nawaz does is more harmful to the country, as Nawaz do corruption at ground level. As for Zardari, he would work to improve the country as long as he gets his commission.
On the other hand, I also know that it is not for me to decide who should be President but obvious is that, Zardari would become President if he wishes.

.
so lets see, zardari becomes president, his party has majority, the powers of president will not be stripped, and later even if PPP loses some of its support andPML-N walks out, PPP will find other partners, if not and there are elections and PML-N wins, it is doubtful that they will win a clear majority, and if they win the president aka asif zardari will still have the power to dissolve teh parliament, so he has nawaz's leash in his hands either way.
Pakistani politics are better than a star plus soap opera these days and have become very interesting since Mush has left. I personally see one of the three scenarios developing here :
Scenario 1:
NS leaves the coalition on the judges issue, Zardari becomes president, he gets indemnity from prosecution, he resigns from the party co-chairman position, the 58-2(b) and 17th amenment is revoked, all the judges are restored, Aitzaz Ahsan takes full credit (NS does not get any credit), Aitzaz becomes party caretaker leader (until Bilawal comes of age) and PM, Punjab is taken over by PPP & Q League coalition, NS is not allowed to come into NA so no effective opposition, local govt elections rigged, next general elections won by Q League and PPP through help of local bodies, NS wiped out.
Scenario 2:
Zardari bcomes President, he becomes absolute leader with full power, judiciary not restored, Zardari sells his soul to US and does what they want, war on terror goes on, the rest is irrelevant as nothing else would matter, emergency is declared after 3-4 years, media is banned, Zardari brings in constitutional amendments to become like Sadam Husain, Bilawal is nominated as successor!!
Scenario 3:
Fun & games continue, NS stays in coalition, Zardari is prez, judges not restored, no positive steps taken to improve condition, Mush takes over Q League leadership, ISI / Army backs him, emergency / martial law imposed by next army chief, elections and Mush becomes PM.
Any more proposals ???
Great Zardari says, the post of President should be ceremonial. Great Zardari is also in favor of the EX CJ as stated below.
This should alleviate the fears of people that believe the President has too many powers.

**Zardari: Prez role should be ceremonial **
** Aug. 24: Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari thinks that the President should not have the power to dissolve the National Assembly and the role of head of state should be “more ceremonial”.
**
Mr Zardari is sure to take over as President if he wins the September 6 presidential election to replace Pervez Musharraf, who resigned last week after staying nine years in power.
Mr Musharraf enjoyed immense powers and also had the right to sack the elected government or dissolve the Assemblies.
“The Parliament is sovereign, and one has to look at the future of Pakistan’s democracy which is more important than individuals as such,” Mr Zardari said in an interview with Newsweek.
** “Personally I am in favour of the Chief Justice, but there are people in the party, who say that he has become too politicised now,” Mr Zardari said.
** He said, "We fought this war for democracy, and all the powers that Mr Musharraf enjoyed were obviously non-democratic.
