PPP leadership?

Re: PPP leadership?

I hope that PPP will now elect a leader and introduce democracy in the party at grass root level. The party is still strong and is one of the leading party of Pakistan.

Re: PPP leadership?

I share your hopes.

Re: PPP leadership?

I have my doubts. Our entire system is build around personalties, and not the institutions. Thats why we have never experienced stability or peaceful change of power in 60 years. BB or no BB, Mushrraf no Mushrraf, the instability will continue as long there are no strong institutions.

Re: PPP leadership?

That is a very idealistic view of politics. Even in America, Britain, France, etc elections are driven more by personal charisma than policy nuance. Look at the current US primaries.. Within each party the candidates are nearly identical in their platforms. It necessarily falls to charisma.

Now, I do understand and agree with your original point. PPP became too much of a cult of personality around BB. There is a big difference between charisma-driven politics and a political party as cult of personality. I sincerely hope that PPP will last as a party after BB's passing, not because I like them, but for the simple sake of democracy and the existence of differing parties and opinions. But I fear that PPP will not be a major force in Pakistani politics for some time to come. At this point they really just don't have anyone who can pick up where BB left off and become the face of the party. That is an essential thing. Yes, it is lamentable that charisma must play such a role in politics, but that is how politics is. PPP does not have it right now.

Re: PPP leadership?

I wish PPP choose Aitezaz as its chair person.

Re: PPP leadership?

sad but true, no other leader in PPP have the same charisma which BB had. IMO Aetizaz Ahsan and Makhdoom Ameen Faheem are the two contenders for leadership, BUT I wouldn't not be surprised if Zardari takes over.

Re: PPP leadership?

The Bhutto name is synonymous with PPP. Another Bhutto will soon pop up and take the reigns, if not now than years down the line.

Re: PPP leadership?

i so wish ppp choose aitezaz as their chairperson

Re: PPP leadership?

I have a feeling Zardari will play a major role in the party works, if not for permanent than definately for some time. But overtime, changes will occur and i'm optimistic that the turnaround will be beneficial for the party and the nation.
With all due respect to Ms. Bhutto, the deceased, people who had ideas but didn't get a chance to lead or be heard, might now have that chance, which really isn't a bad thing. Bhuttos will never be forgotten for their sacrifices for the country.

Re: PPP leadership?

What sacrifices? Or was losing E. Pakistan a "sacrifice"?

Re: PPP leadership?

An entire family wiped out....u don't call that sacrifice?

Re: PPP leadership?

i doubt about Zardari, but as they say "loha abhi garam hai", so you never know about politics.

Re: PPP leadership?

It called accidents

Re: PPP leadership?

So u call this latest incident a mere accident?!...wow.

I'm not quite sure what definition of 'accident' you follow but the one i know is of: when one harms another without it being intended on either party's part...

Clearly this wasn't an accident....neither of them were. Thank you very much. :)

Re: PPP leadership?

Murtaza was killed by zardari with direct / indirect involving of benazir. Some accident..

Re: PPP leadership?

plz no…Fear ALLAH SWT!

bhutto was a great leader, but he did something terrible that ALLAH SWT didnt like, which even his family has to face. :teary2:

Re: PPP leadership?

I’m sorry Z, but that’s not quite true, the bolded part. Unless you know something we don’t. Sometimes good people do bad deeds, and other bad people take their life for various personal/political reasons.
