Happy/sad news! The last of the 3 boys is all potty trained woo hoo!! Way to go little guy!!!
He’s been so ready for a while but with our crazy schedules we just put it off till this weekend which started the week-long school vacation…we started training on Sunday and no accidents since yesterday! It was a breeze!
The best advice ever - do when the little one is READY!!!
I batted my head against the wall with my first guy. He wasnt ready at all till he was almost 4. My middle one was out of diapers in the same week as his older brother.
Lesson learned....when they're ready, they're ready. Dont bat your head against the wall if you have a late bloomer, its just extra stress that you dont need.
My daughter is two and a half and mashallah is very intelligent in everything. She knows her numbers to 10, knows all her alphabet and colours and talks like she's a little grandma, so why she wont understand the concept of doing it in the toilet is beyond me. I'v tried many many times. I take her diaper off and explain to her that when she wants to pee she has to come and tell mummy and mummy will take her to the dora toilet!she nods her head and says okay mummy but then its like "mummy me pee pee" and she's does it all over the floor(thank god for hardwood floors!) to make things even worse she splashes her feet around in it as though its a puddle of water!!!! i guess she's not ready yet! mamaof3 how did you know they were ready?
Ms seashell, it becomes apparent when its more of a headache and causing stress in your life than anything the little one does. If you're trying to potty train him/her and its just not going well, then leave it alone...for a week or 3. Then try again. If it seems to be going OK then its time....but if its just accident after accident, leave it for now. It just doesnt seem (to me) to be THAT big a deal if they're trained at age 27 months or age 37 months...in the long run, its just not a big enough deal to have all the headache and stress.
Our son was 2-1/2 years when he started hating his pampers and, horror of horrors, we were supposed to fly to US within a few days (19 hours flight). Later we tried to coax him into wearing pampers before leaving for the airport but to no avail. He did let us know each time on the plane when he needed to go to the washroom but one time I got stuck behind the meals trolley and ended up getting soaked to the socks and jocks!
ewwww lol :)
you guys have cute kids but potty training is something i'm dreading-- even changing diapers! how do you get past the whole poo thing? you know, the smell, the cleanup etc? people tell me when i have kids it'll be different, but i fail to see how poo becomes less gross just cos its produced by your kid...
lol, thats funny. I had my kids late in life and was always grossed out by little ones, the diapers, the drool, the messes. But you really do change when its your own. I guess its something that you get used to and also that you just love the little thing so very much that you get over it. They are so completely dependent on you that even the grossest things dont matter as much as the love that you have for the little one. Keeping them safe, clean, happy - thats the thing on your mind when you're faced with a stinky mess.
Awww how cute :D congrats to you kiddie...and you as well mommy
i remember when my younger brother at the age of 2-3 (who is 12 now) used to run away from the toilet seat and preferred to drop it of where ever he wanted in the bathroom hehe but diapers were his first choice - once the bathroom was locked and he didnt have the diaper on so he pooed near the bathroom door, boy was my mother angry she gave him a tiight slap :( *i started crying when i saw that and after that time he always told her to make him sit on the toilet seat and held her so tight (since he was scared of falling down in the big round hole)...
lol, thanks guys! Its such a big acheivement but at the same time, its kind of sad that my last one is growing up…
got a good smile from your story ms Tee…actually my eldest boy used to want privacy while sitting on the throne. One day, I heard him whining in there, “all stuck, all stuck” so i left him with his privacy for a few minutes thinking he was constipated. His complaints continued so I went in there and he was indeed “all stuck”, his bottom was in the water and his knees were on his nose, he fell into the potty:blush:
you didnt use those potty inserts? my sister STILL uses it for her 4 yr old even though she doesnt need it…my sister just doesnt want her to fall in the potty and make a big mess
