My post clearly points out that fasting is obligatory and the purpose of fasting is not empathy.
I do not condone posting pictures of food anywhere or even eating in public if you can’t give what you are eating to all those who can see you eat it. Nor do I condone eating till you are about to vomit. But, fasting is an obligatory action, A pillar of islam.
You had your facts wrong. The purpose of fasting is not what you think it is. As well as, people overeating while breaking fast is not the reason others are poor. Islam not only promotes Zakat but makes it obligatory.

I feel purpose of roza is to make you have empathy for the hungry. Actions required have a reason and purpose and if we forego the reason then what good is the action.

You had your facts wrong and that is all I wished to correct. Whether you are willing to change your mind and become more flexible or stay judgemental is totally up to you. I will not argue over it.

There are many hadith about not eating too much, here is one.

A good faith will not promote anything that will create disharmony. Many people eating too much will result in many people going hungry. Supply and demand equation will mean food prices will go up and poor won’t be able to afford sustenance.

Narrated Nafi’: Ibn 'Umar never used to take his meal unless a poor man was called to eat with him. One day I brought a poor man to eat with him, the man ate too much, whereupon Ibn ‘Umar said, "O Nafi’! Don’t let this man enter my house, for I heard the Prophet saying, “A believer eats in one intestine (is satisfied with a little food), and a kafir (unbeliever) eats in seven intestines (eats much food).”
