You can also post your favorite drama from the masjid, if these hasn’t been any latest developments.
And to guppies living in Pakistan, the masjids in the USA are less about praying, and more about socializing. Which leads to a lot of drama, arguments, taking sides and what not. I know in Pakistan masjid used to be a place to go pray, meet people, and let the imam take care of the mosque. This is partially because the Imam pretty much owns the mosque. Here, the imam is just an employee.
I will post some from over the years. I am not involved, so I only hear about a few:
Women complaining about being left in the back, with not even a window to see what’s going on in the men’s side. Argument turned into a “We faced enough discrimination back home, we are not going to let this happen here” This resulted in a sliding one way glass door. Many conservative people were pissed.
President of the local Islamic association caught singing ghazals at friends party. Much finger pointing ensued.
Previous president of Islamic association gave eid qutba about getting involved in the democratic system, writing to candidates, and voting in local elections. Resulted in more than a thousand emails, creating a huge drama.
Masjid holds friendly soccer match open to anyone. End up being similar to gali ka match. Arabs completely took over, leaving others (Desis mainly) bitter about not being allowed to play.
people coming late for jummah prayers even during ramadan and feel that them getting to the jamaat is important enough for them to double park and block ppl who were there on time and need to get back to work.
certain individuals getting ticked off and taking the air out of the tires of those cars to get even cuz if they are screwed over. they migh as well screw over the guys who screwed them over.

Well here, some people were parking in front of garages, and drive ways. Cars started getting towed away. It became so bad that tow truck drivers were already present when people started coming in.
I kind of feel sorry for the goras whose houses are near the mosque.
No, if you go early, there is parking, but fills up.
Sorry I was referring to Fraudia but you posted in between my reply and Fraudz.
I live across an Afghani Shia Mosque and suffer tremendously due to
-Heavily parked street
-Groups of Men randomly standing in the middle of the street chattering
-Little kids left to play ball in the street by their religious parents

Afghani shia mosque? Where? There are that many shias to even need a specific Afghan mosque?
Ok, now let us also share what positive measures should be taken to ensure that such dramas are not repeated in future
Any one ?
well for masjid parking its simple, masjid needs to start charging some heavy heavy fines for this stuff and get the cars towed, funds for the masjid and it will discourage ppl.
they need to announce this and then see.
I am glad to say that in this double parking and blocking abuse that desis are not major perps, its usually our arab brethren.
as someone said, i have seen at times the general lack of discipline and just a disrespect for others around them exhibited by people going for jummah prayers, parking illegally, cutting through private property etc etc etc. not doing much for PR here. masjid folks should announce before and after khutba each week what ppl need to sort out.
in our masjid one guy wanted to president but the other "party's" guy became president so that other half has left the masjid:D
they just left it like that, some of those ppl had been taking care of it for years, organized manyyy things and kept the "community" in touch...
Now that is ridiculous...
Masjid is for Allah and you go there to Worship him... It belongs to all Muslims... Knowing about such incidents every now and then is simply sad though.
The masjid i go to is pretty chill. The imam sahab is a really friendly and down to earth person and his speeches are informative, engaging and best of all hillarious (not stand up comedy funny but his use of wit and sarcasm, especially when pointing out flaws of the desi way of following Islam).
Jumma at my masjid is at 2 pm so people naturally make it in by 2. But from 1:30 to 2 the imam sahab gives a khutba in urdu and i have always made it a point to be there at 1:30. So all said and done, he managed to convince atleast one person to show up at the mosque early.
It used to be called MCCC (Muslim Community Centre of Canada) which i thought was a bit wierd because it only serves a very small neighbourhood/community. Just recently they changed their name to AEI Centre which i have no clue what it stands for.
So no, no drama so far. Or maybe im just too naive to notice anything out of the ordinary.
TeenDabayWala, Im in Sydney.
I dont understand what you mean by stereotype Pakistanis.
Fraudia sowwie :(
well notice I am not upset about you thinking that I did that specific thing..cuz that may be true, i can niether confirm nor deny it.
but that I would do soemthing like that.
that was just crossing the line
I am very specific about my vandalism and take pride in my work and dont like speculations of what type of general things I may do at some point in time.
…
My husband was the admin for sometime of our local masjid and the stories he would bring home from anything from like putting really heavy (they are like the dividers you find in pakistani hospitals) all the way where the ladies would sit during iftars…and the funniest thing is usually women roam everywhere before the iftaris parties start:cb:…and both men and women would be in the kitchen too…beparda…namehram na mehram…tobah tobah…until the Qari sahab got married and his own wife would be everywhere… then he laxed quite a bit:D
