I think Supreme Court should be commended for taking suo motu notice of situation in Karachi. On its directions, police and rangers also seem to be acting across the board against ALL target killers regardless of their party affiliations.
I don’t know what judiciary’s decision is going to be in the end, but I am hopeful it will be correct decision.
Thumbs up to judiciary for its role in bringing peace and normalcy back in the city.
Re: Positive role in Karachi from judiciary (and police, rangers)
Wrong. All credit goes to Zulfiqar Mirza's press conference followed by Scotland Yard in providing information about mqm killers of Imran Farooq who are now held in Pakistani Jail. Last but not the least the dumb stupid 4 hours of press conference of dabba pir of landan who sang song "burqa main rehnay do", blamed ANP for taking money from Sam to break Pakistan etc etc.. Perphaps his followers for the first time saw his real calibre.
(you should be thankful to me as I provided good stuff to spark discussions otherwise this thread might have gone down the drain without any participation:)

I don't think so. The (dis)credit goes to govt's failure in controlling the situation. Killings were not stopping. This is why the supreme court took action.
If it were only about Mirza then action would have been only against MQMers.
Re: Positive role in Karachi from judiciary (and police, rangers)
It is Dr Zulfikar Mirza's press conference and his revelations that set the ball rolling for a historic, even revolutionary, sea change that we have seen in tackling head on the law and order situation in Karachi, for the first time in 25 years. Then to top of it off Altaf Hussain disastrous 4-hour press conference, which probably did more damage to the MQM than even Mirza's allegations.
There are no more 'sacred cows' anymore when it comes to discussing the Karachi situation. Where the media previously shied away (under threats + intimidation) from criticising the MQM, it is now openly doing so, along with equal criticism of other parties. The MQM is on the back foot as never before, admitting that criminals should have no part in the party and even questioning by MQM supporters in the Mohajir community of the tactics and public displays/statements of their leaders. The Supreme Court ignored fears of another 'May 12th' and are holding historic hearings in Karachi to address the issues, emboldening state institutions like the Police, Rangers, Intelligence agencies who are no longer fearful of the PPP-led govt or MQM pressure and doing their jobs in cracking down on the mafia's and target killers.
Thanks to Dr Zulfikar Mirza, Altaf Hussain (The Movie) and Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhury there is finally hope for Karachi.

You forgot to add the incompetent Sindhi nationalist PPP government of the province whose failure resulted in Karachi's ethnic violence.
If it was only about Mirza's press conference then the action would have been only against MQM. But we know that terrorists from all parties were captured.
And Altaf Hussein's "movie" came AFTER the chief justice had started the court sessions in the city. Otherwise tell me how would this "movie" have stopped the killings?
Your post is only filled with hatred against MQM and love towards hater of all urdu speakers Mirza. Other than that it does not explain how the killings stopped, if not through supreme court's actions.

PPP nationalist ka ek mirza hi saaray mqm par bhari quzraa what to talk about whole Sindhi nationalist PPP government? By the way your governor is part of Sindhi nationalist government.

Yes. PPP's Sindhi nationalist Mirza is responsible for killings of hundreds of people in the city. It was only supreme court which spoiled his bloody desires by taking action against everyone, including his badmashs in Lyari.
Who is "my" governor? Mind your language, otherwise I will report you for being personal.
Governor actually is not the head of government. The head is chief minister. This is similar to president/prime minister, where president is head of state and prime minister is head of government.

And Altaf has given no statement against Mirza
Which he should take back.
ANP people are total gentlemen and Altaf has withdrawn his statement against ANP
ANd Mustafa Kamal and Farooq Sattar in USA to apologize for Altaf statement against USA.
No problem
Re: Positive role in Karachi from judiciary (and police, rangers)
**MQM, other elements involved in May 12 tragedy, Sattar told US
**
KARACHI: Wikileaks has revealed that MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar said certain MQM workers, former president Pervez Musharraf, landlords, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and other political parties were involved in the May 12, 2007 mayhem in Karachi.
A diplomatic cable sent from Karachi to Washington on 17 May, 2007 contained details of a 40-minute phone conversation between Sattar and Charge d’affaires US Consulate Peter Boday. During the conversation Sattar admitted that certain members of his party were involved in the May 12 incident and the party should consider unarming its militant wing.
According to the cable Sattar had informed government officials about those involved in the incident. Sattar said that slogans chanted in favour of Musharraf were not made on his recommendation and MQM Chief Altaf Hussain had dismissed his recommendation on the issue.
Re: Positive role in Karachi from judiciary (and police, rangers)
The topic is about killings being stopped in Karachi, and my saying that CJ, police and rangers should be congratulated for taking ACROSS THE BOARD action against ALL target killers regardless of political affiliations. It is NOT about putting blames and abusing others.
You in turn said this: "Thanks to Dr Zulfikar Mirza, Altaf Hussain (The Movie) and Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhury there is finally hope for Karachi".
So you think Mirza, and Altaf's "movie" also helped bring peace to the city. And when I pointed out to this nonsense then instead of replying, you started abusing MQM left and right.

Isharatul Ibad belongs to mqm, calling him your governor being personal disgrace to you. Why?Aren't you die hard supporter of mqm?:)
