Porno Videos

A friend of mine has been working in a video store over the last few months, in a desi area, and she has been shocked over the amount of people that rent out x-rated movies. They’re mostly old men and even young guys, which we assume are extremely perverted and horny. Anyway, I was literally rolling on the floor laughing at the kind of requests these people make, she was telling me on the phone just now. She didn’t find it very funny but they ask for movies with such corny names. I mean, they are not even shy about it!!
Anyway, I can’t understand why people would want to watch porno movies. How on earth would it be a turn on? Personally I think it is girosss or is it a normal thing which people and couples do?

Wellll.................. this is a touchy subject ..... but one man's meat is another man's poison....
If you like it you like it, if you dont you dont.
But if someone tries to do anything to you after being influenced by porn, then it becomes an issue. This is the same as alcohol or drugs or nicotine...as long the user's actions do not affect others, ignore them.

Apparently we guppies are living under a rock! if I may say that;-) Here are a few passages from an article I was reading the other day

**The truth is, the Internet pornography industry is arguably the most active and lucrative area of digital commerce in cyberspace.

While most corporate home pages tabulate monthly hits in the thousands, top adult sites regularly garner more than 1 million hits per day. That puts them well ahead, in fact, of such corporate sites as General Electric Co. or Boeing Co.

But there is one big difference -- porn-site visitors are more likely to spend money on the spot.

"I would bet that between 80 percent and 90 percent of all [e-commerce] on the Internet is conducted at adult sites," said Tony, the owner of a site called Planet Hornywood. He asked that his last name not be used.

There are no official market numbers on the industry from Internet research houses, such as International Data Corp. or Zona Research Inc. However, extensive interviews with adult site owners yield a picture of a highly charged market of approximately 10,000 sites generating about $1 billion in revenue per year, most through electronic credit card transactions.

Anything related to sex has natural ability to sell itself and Catty believe it or not! Facts say it is a turn on. Like you said it is considered gross therefore world is in a denial for now....but the truth is movies are rented and seen by majority. I don't know about girls but as far as guys are concerned you don't wanna know the details....or maybe u do lemme know in either case.

Those are quite shocking statistics Boss and yeah please enlighten me with the details!
I just find it so damn strange why people want to get turned on by porn, especially when they're married. It's absolute filth, why get turned on by what other people are doing? Isn't it unislamic as well?
I was at some friends' house - a married couple, I went on to their computer only to find that they had visited a kazillion porn sites and I was shocked, told my mum but she just laughed and I was like hein??? I don't know if it's something that the couple enjoys to do together??

you were checking out the URL history on their PC ??!!?

u nosy lil billi

“SARCASM”, its my only talent.

No, I was not intentionally checking their URL history! It sort of happened by accident!

look at it this way
as long as they arent out on the streets raping women and children

its fine by me
they can watch as many porno movies as they want

and there is nothing wrong with it
considering every individual at some state is curious bout the whole SEX thing

some read books, some watch movies, while others experiment

there is a difference bw being mentally sick and trying to satisfy one's curiousity

I think that pornography stares us in the face much more than ever before. We see it everywhere, in fact it has become so much a part of our lives that certain things non longer cause raised eyebrows. It seems like a desperate race for excitement and stimulation many times. At this point in your lives many of you may be curious, shocked, upset, pleased etc. etc. but then we are talking about ourselves. Where do we draw the line? How would we feel about it if our children or younger siblings were involved?

While sex is a perfectly normal and healthy things, we should not forget that it is not an end in self, it does not exist in a vacuum and we all need to be on the lookout about some things. While some people will say that pornography is acceptable when a couple is committed - that is to say committed enough to be married - and can even contribute to the relationship - I would say that we need to look at the WHOLE relationship. Even in a committed relationship, sex is not enough to keep it together. There needs to be caring, consideration, communication, then there is every chance that even if pornography is part of a relationship it will not take a dominant role.

Okay excuse me for having lived on Jupiter all this time, but I didn’t know everyone checked out porn.
After doing an extensive survey amongst all my male friends, it turns out that at some stage of their lives they have all watched blue movies, checked out porn on the internet etc.

Still doesn’t make it right, y’all hear???

>>It’s absolute filth, why get turned on by what other people are doing? Isn’t it unislamic as well?<<
No disagreement there but like Rudra said one man’s meat is other man’s poison. Not a lot of guys would proudly show their porn collection because it is ‘unislamic’ and it is ‘filth’…but what I’m trying to say is that people are addicted to it and we are denying its existence…it just blows my mind. Our stance should be more in terms of acceptance and protesting rather than denial and preaching islam. I’m against hypocrisy especially when it comes to religion.

>>> I don’t know if it’s something that the couple enjoys to do together??<<<
I don’t know but like Shirin stated "There needs to be caring, consideration, communication, then there is every chance that even if pornography is part of a relationship it will not take a dominant role. "
A friend of mine takes his fob wife to strip clubs once in a while…who on earth could imagine that happening? Rest of my friends call him bay ghairat and what not! But hey isn’t that getting too personal in someone’s life.

>>>there is a difference bw being mentally sick and trying to satisfy one’s curiousity <<<
Anchal u spelled curiosity wrong but anyway you have a point.

Earlier you brought in Islam. As Muslims, you are right, it is forbidden and every Muslim knows it. But then there wouldn’t be laws and regulations if everyone were to abide by the rules.

I see pornography in daytime on the T.V. that my kids watch. Yes, my kids. It’s all over the cartoons in the afternoon. I try to teach them the correct ways of dressing, not to undress specially when there are ladies in the house (kids are 8 and below with a dauther at 12). How do you fight this thing with children?

As for adults, and putting the religion aside: You have not been living on Planet Earth. One of the base human desires is: SEX and the fascination with it, experimentation with it, longging for it for the pleasures it gives, etc.

Some people who show a greater self-control are quite different when behind close doors. There are some things even you will not disclose to your shadow. This is part of human nature and curiosity.

As for your Muslim approach: Islam’s greater fight is with the Self after we have been told of what’s right and what’s wrong.

Rest is between the person and his/er God.

I work at a cable TV company. I get lot of calls from couples ordering pay-per view Spice, Playboy or other adult channels. It is one of my duties to service such requests. Obviously lot of desi people call too. Its no suprise to me

Ghoncho-
Currenty in Pakistan, chilling with friends and family and recommends the same to all fellow guppies.

If there are porno videos out there, it is naive to think that people won't watch them. Just about every male in Pakistan will have sat glued to the screen while the grainy flickers of a blue movie play out on the VHS. Most of them book the next flight out to Europe expecting to receive similar treatment as soon as they step off the plane.

It's a matter of perception as to whether it is considered 'perverted' or not. In many European countries it is shown on terrestrial TV, so Mum and Dad in Scandinavia might well sit down to watch a blue movie with their 18 yr old kids I imagine. After 10pm of course.

I do think there are a lot of questions that arise from this though. Granted people watch these films, but what about those involved in making them? Actors, actresses, film crew etc. I wonder how do those people - and especially their families - adjust to the demands involved?

Any ideas anyone?

guys, i just watched The Full Monty (the movie) last night and i gotta say it was even funnier than the first time around !
God i love british humour.

actors mainly who are involved in such scenes, they wear, oh god, i don't know things which are the size of a quarter infront of the film crew to maintain the little part of what's left of their modesty.
some actor, i forget who, but one whom i do remember as a major hunk, was actually still quite embarrassed wearing the tiny piece of attire. pretty ironic huh ?

If there are porno videos out there, it is naive to think that people won't watch them. <<
Wrong. It is rather this way...since people will always be interested in the act there will be pornos to meet that demand.

You can't stop water from leaking through a hole in a bucket by applying mudd on the outside wall but if you apply the same amount of mudd on the inside wall of the bucket where the hole is, leakage will stop.

Very interesting topic. let me first congratulate cat-woman on the initiative.
we all crave for sex, though men tend to have more desire than women, at least onthe face of it. the problem should get solved by getting married. but i feel it doesnt. you exect more of sex today than it actually is. andi honestly feel media is to blame. i am happliy married but still feel the desire to look at other woman or the urge to get physically involved. this is more when i am watching movies (regular ones. but i have noticed that their is less of a tendency when i have lesser or no contact with TV.
comments?

May we all be forgiven for our sins, intentional or otherwise. Ameen

Not everybody perceives there to be a leak though. What some societies consider to be perverted, others consider perfectly normal. British censorship laws are quite conservative for example compared to other European countries.

My own view is that pornography was immensely interesting as a twelve yr old seeing it for the first time. That's a story in itself. After that it's no different to staring at a leg of mutton.

But the fact is, porn sites on the web are getting the highest hits so does that mean everyone is a pervert? And why should desis be judged any different to other members of a society? If it's ok for Tommy or Johnny to watch grubby videos, why not Amir or Gupta? I am a little confused as to which standards we are applying here.

I agree with you have just posted above, Xtreme. The impression I got from your post that I qouted was that production of porno movies has to be stopped to stop their consumption. What I am saying is it is the other way around. If someone thinks porno is bad(I for one strongly differ on that) then he/she should have strong enough believe or values not to watch it rather than telling rest of the world to stop producing or enjoying porno.

Porno is good in some instances. e.g. in the third world countries where most women are still illiterrate, women are discovering for the first time after watching goris scream on screen that there exists something called orgasm...and they can have it too. Most desi men although enjoy watching prono themselves piss in their pants when they know about the above discovery by their wives. They have been used to drive the gaaRhi and not worry about its tael-pani.

CM are you saying porn is like education? I have a hard time registering that. And yeah, I have never seen an x-rated movie. I don't think it requires much will power to restrain myself.
I think when it comes to curiosity when you're going through puberty, it's alright to explore such things. But to rely on it later as a source of sexual stimulation still boggles my mind. If my husband was to watch porn while we are married, I would absolutely freak. Like Papa Smurf also says, it gives you other expectations as well of what sex is like.
Somehow I have always associated people who watch porn as being SLEAZY.
The whole porn business is so 3rd grade, I wish you all could see the expression on my face right now, it's enough to turn a pot of milk sour.

women are discovering for the first time after watching goris scream on screen that there exists something called orgasm...and they can have it too

yaar, I don't think desi women are as naive as you think. And why the need to single out desi men about watching porn? Believe me, some non-desis take their porn collections pretty seriously. Maybe you need to mix a bit more amongst other ethnicities to get a wider picture.

If someone thinks porno is bad(I for one strongly differ on that) then he/she should have strong enough believe or values not to watch it rather than telling rest of the world to stop producing or enjoying porno.

Well if they have an opinion why shouldn't they express it? After all, plenty of people believe that movies showing violence shouldn't be allowed either. Does that mean they should shut up? I don't see any reason why both pro-porn and anti can't give their views.
