Pork

Why Pork meat is not allowed to eat to Muslims, Can they do Pork trading?
Kindly give me intellectual reasoning in reference to Quran and Hadith

Re: Pork

as far as I know they can trade Pork. The eating of Pork is forbidden but not the selling of Pork

However in the case of alcohol it is explicitly stated that alcohol is neither to be sold or drunk. So I guess you can sell pork but not eat it

I dont know why

lets wait for someone else to answer

Re: Pork

That pork is haram needs no intellectual reasoning save for the fact that Allah orders us to not eat it. It does not need to have any scientific or philosophical thought behind it, its just simply forbidden. We take it as such and donot question the judgement / will of Allah.

Re: Pork

Pork prohibited in Qur’an

The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. It is prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115.
“Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.”

The above verses of the Holy Qur’an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why pork is forbidden.

**2. **Pork prohibited in the Bible

The Christian is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures. The Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus
“And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you”
“Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you”

Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy
“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.”
[Deuteronomy 14:8]

A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5/

**3. **Consumption of pork causes several diseases

The other non-Muslims and atheists will agree only if convinced through reason, logic and science. Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.

Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.
4. Pork has fat building material

Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension.
5. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth

The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.

Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.

6. Pig is the most shameless animal

The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. In America, most people consume pork. Many times after dance parties, they have swapping of wives; i.e. many say “you sleep with my wife and I will sleep with your wife.” If you eat pigs then you behave like pigs. We look upon America to be very advanced and sophisticated. Whatever they do, we follow after a few years. According to an article in Island magazine, this practice of swapping wives has become common in the affluent circles of Bombay.

ref: pork forbidden

Re: Pork

Wat the hell that suppose to mean.....
Islam is a religion which has a very logical reasoning to every thing which is **forbidden. This is such a typical bull sh*t Mullah thinking that do not question the judgement of allah.
We have every right to question him regarding anything we dont understand ,his wisdom is greater than anyone.
The reason i came accross for not eating pig is that A pig is the only edible animal which can have all those diseases a human can have secondly its the most filthiest edible animal.

Re: Pork

Well stated BORED. As for those who simply believe it can't be forbidden unless there is a scientific reason behind it that we have not discovered yet then they should read Harun Yahya's "Who the unwise interpret the Quran". He gave a very good explanation when he touched on this topic. Even if we were to breede pigs in the most hygenic way possible and eliminate all the detrimental qualities in its flesh a muslim still cannot consume simply because it would be an act defiant to Allahs command. This is a test for a muslim from Allah to measure his obedience to him.

Re: Pork

Right it is a religion of logical reasoning and the logic here is that we should not defy Allahs commands. Allah commanded muslims to abstain from pork and he will test us in how obedient we are to his commands or are we just working our ways around them as you suggest. If Allah says obey me and I am happy with you, disobey me and I am not happy with you. Logically what will you want to do? I hope Obey him.

Re: Pork

Kodiak, this was a very narrow minded response to someone who seems genuinely curious. Subsequent replies to yours had Quranic verses, you didn’t bother with an references, you did the typical mullah thing, “it just IS”, no evidence, no explanation. While I agree that we should have faith and do as God commands, but lets show someone who is curious WHERE those commands are.

This is just plain ignorant. Totally demeans the site and author and any points they are trying to make.

Re: Pork

explains why most of the muslims r so sheepish… :hehe:

Re: Pork

AHHHAHAHAHAHA!!! That’s actually pretty funny Mughal! Also explains why they’re a bunch of cocks.

Re: Pork

A touch of evil … :cu2:

Re: Pork

The Whole point of my response was that we dont always need to question the commands that are very clearly given in the Quran and Sunnah. We dont always need to wonder why is it a certain way and not any other way. As far as I know Allah declares Pig haram, and Allah does not say why the pig is haram. We could come up with a hundred reasons as to why a pig is haram, but for all we know the real reason that Allah in his infinite wisdom choose to declare it haram for us is escaping us.

Im all for the quest for knowledge, scientific or otherwise, im all for people trying to discover why a pig is haram, but really is everything in islam explainable by logic and reason ? No. However, we do have one reason to superede all others, and that is that the Quran is the irrefuteable word of Allah, and therefore if it does contain something that is the truth and nothing can ever change that.

If my response was worded a bit harshly, i appologize for it, such was not my intention.

Re: Pork

More specifically, refer to this article on the matter of the unseen

http://www.islamonline.com/cgi-bin/news_service/spot_full_story.asp?service_id=583

We cannot always find logical and scientific answers for every single little thing in islam. And those matters we leave to our faith in Allah.

Re: Pork

Sorry I don,t agree with you explaination because,
How you can you explain to no muslims even some christain and Hindu's aslo do not eat pork. What answers do we have if they ask, then why "Allah" has created pork,as we muslims belive "He Allah" is creator of all creatures.

Re: Pork

Can you tell me why Alah created good and evil? Evil was created to test us whether we stay away from it or not. Whether we do or not is how Allahs tests us for his obedience.

Re: Pork

Sounds like can't go to the prostitutes but pimping is allowed.

Re: Pork

Kiya Bakwaas Hai Yaar, I can understand religious reasoning but shamless animal thing is beyond intelligence. Think about it, its an animal we are talking about.
So you say that the pig invites its friends to have sex with its mate.:D Prove this invitation thing.

What about animal husbandry in pakistan where you have one bull servicing so many females, what a shameful act. Lets not eat beef as well. To be sure keep an eye on the goats also, some of them are very besharam.

Re: Pork

Beauty and power of islam come from these facts.
Like other religons we do question the pinciples like "rais khan " just did.
But unlike other religon we don’t cnage isalam to fit our mind set.
Even we can’t totally understand reasons behind we still wont change the text to fit our needs.
And later over the period of centuries(as we humans evolve) things start making sense.
If you wan’t I can give you many example from our text which people did’t understand till 19th century.
Yet
Yet unlike bible no cange quran to fit their mind set.

Thank you.

now where is my huqqa :desimunda:

Re: Pork

Yes, but keep it in mind that we can interpret the same wordings 100 different ways, which is the reason of so many different school of thoughts. whos to know who is right.

On a lighter note can I share your huqa, its been many days:) yaar.
