What right does the Pope have to butt his nose in to ''ISLAMIC'' laws
Calm down merey bhai... I'm sure we can engage in healthy debates with all faiths. However this Pope has to understand that in order to be respected one must respect.

Cant expect people to respect Laws that are unjust. In this case, the Pope is more Islamic then most of the Mullahs.
If the said law is only good for the purpose of terrorizing people, then your better of ditching it. Im sure even the Prophet would ditch this law, and risk being insulted, if it meant protecting innocent people from being prosecuted.
So what is the current interpretation of Blasphemy-Law in Pakistan in its constitutional manifest ?
I'm more interested in finding out if the "false and manipulatory claims being a witness to blasphemy" is punishable equally in such situations ? regardless of the religion they belong to ?
I read some where up here ^ the same question or point but got no specific answer !

Well bhai I think the punishments for lying and false witness are just as grave if not more severe...
A lesson there for anyone who thinks that they can get away for such mischief... It is noted many a Muslim was beheaded for bearing false witness against Kaffir... Hadeeth qoute both Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Ali May Allah's blessings be upon them, having done so.

Bhai you have already agreed with me on this point before... It's not the law which is the problem, it's people who abuse it. You can have a country one hundred percent free of any religous laws and still people will find ways to target each other.
As for the Pope being more Muslim, bhai the Pope's Christianity can be questioned just as simmilarly I say there are Muslims more Christian than the Pope who is encumbent at this time.

I disagree with the statement that the law is not the problem. The evidence is quite to the contrary. The current law is the problem. We had blasphemy law before the ammendments and how many people were accused or convicted of blasphemy? Very few if any. So what was the great need for the ammendments. If people were disrespecting the Holy Prophet(saw) in the presence of the previous law then a case could be made that it was not strict enough.
This is what happens when you use the name of islam to make laws which are actually against its teachings. The result will never be peace and harmony but fitna. The reason the current law was set up this way was to harass minorities plain and simple. There was absolutely no need for it as the previous law was working quite fine. This law has resulted in maligning the name of the holy prophet(saw) way more than any blasphemer could ever do. Is it not the height of disrespect and brutality that dozens of people have been killed and hundereds have had their lives ruined in the name of the one who was called mercy for all the worlds?

The law in its current form is the problem, as its not only biased, but legitimizes and facilitates harassment of minorities, and anyone that the said accuser does not agree with.
I only agreed that I would grudgingly support the law if it were changed so it could not be abused, and included a clause under which all religous figures would be protected, not just Islamic figures.
The Pope is only critisizing a law that is unjust as it is easy to abuse, it instills intolerance and creates violence. Firstly, the accused cannot expect to get a fair trial, and even if the person is found innocent, the person is still liable to be killed as we have often seen happen.
Now lets be honest, you know this law is unfair, and its being abused. Hence, the law as it stands today is not Islamic. Infact its the height of jahaluth. Islam believes in Justice, and a Muslim is one who strives for Justice. In this case atleast, the Pope is demonstrating a far more enlightened understanding of Islam then the poison spitting snakes calling themselves Muslim while calling for the death of anyone they consider against their beliefs.

Minorities? We recently saw a 'brelvi' crowd accuse 'deo-bandi' molvi of blasphemy, so its not just minorities this law seemingly can be used by anyone against anyone.

Yeah. But while this Maulvi might get some sympathy from the drone like masses of Pakistan, the Minorities never get any mercy. None the less, atleast incidences like this highlight the need for some sanity. They may not care if Christians, Hindus, or Ahmadis are accused, but they might start seeing sense when their own become victimized.

The problem these days is no one respects each other's beliefs...every one wants to prove they are right. I feel that if people learn to give some respect and behave like humans then this world would be so much better. But instead they always look for a way to drag religion into anything and then make religion an excuse to fulfill their own agenda!
These days religion is jst a means towards an end...and no one wants to live and let live, they jst want to kill and or die trying!!!!
The pope can butt his nose where ever he wants. Its called freedom of speech. Its how 99% of the people butt their nose into issues regarding Afghanistan, Palestine and the US.

Plus the woman in question is a Christian. And so the Pope is entitled to have an opinion on how one of is followers is treated, just as how we feel its our right to criticize the US for how it treat detainees at Guantanamo.
Who the hell is POPE to tell us what to do and what not to!!! he better tell Europe to repeal the jews supporting laws.. where people have been convicted and sentenced...
